Just a reminder,July through mid September is "Munsoon Season" Our time to have hight humidity and violent lightning and thunder storms. Think of outside animals provide an area of protection for them, put yourself in thier shoes ( feet), they need a place to get away and feel safe.
I've lived in the Southern NV. area for over 37 years and have witnessed and heard news reports of loss of property and loss of lives.
My father and I were almost victims of these storms. We were traveling South on Lamb Blvd. in the days when it had dips and rutts and was a narrow two lane road. One of those dips had a measuring stick that If my memory is correct went up 16ft. That piece of roadway was known for swift water flooding. So as we approached, traffic was moving slowly, my dad looked it over and felt it was safe to travel. What neither of us realized was the fast pace and how fast the water level was climbing. We were in a Volkswagon of all things so as we got to the center of the dip we were starting to float and heading right for the oncomming car, my dad was fighting with all of his might, I might add so was the driver that was headed toward us. I will never forget the look on his face, and I'm sure we had the same look on our faces. We actually bumped each other but not hard enough to cause any damage I don't think. We made it up out of harms way and so did the driver that we connected physically with. Unfortunately three cars behind us were not so lucky. They ended up swept down the temporary river. Don't know about there injuries, we only could watch helplessly from the top of the roadway.
We did call for help for them down the road to the next phone booth. pre-cell days)

People in Pahrump might not like to admit that out town is full of rumor and gossip, but that don't change the facts that there is a lot of RUMOR and GOSSIP. The lighter side of this rumor made a lot of people laugh, We need more laughfter myself included. People were on the look out for this big Black Limo keeping them preoccupied and busy trying to be the one who would finally spot the "KING of POP". There is a big Black Limo that runs around town with the words
"BADD" It belongs to a "Hip Hop" group of boys that live here in Pahrump in a group home. ( not Rumor)
Instead of taking offense at this article, why not enjoy the well meant humor. If we can't laugh
at ourselves who can we laugh at? Lighten up
PAHRUMP you will not hear the rumors and gossip after the population reaches 100.000. Than we will have lost our uniqueness so enjoy it while we can.....
