February hasn't had air travel numbers that low since 2005 according the LCVA website.

http://www.lvcva.com/press/statistics-fa...

The difference though is that in Feb. 2005 we had just 131,000 rooms. Now we have the same air travel count as Feb. 2005 but today we have 149,000 rooms. Almost 14% more inventory.

Is anyone paying attention to this? These stats are not good.

Why isn't anyone looking into the $25 million the state took from the Clark County School District Bond Fund? That money was supposed to be used to build schools. $25 million will build an elementary school with money left over.

How can they take that money that the voters approved to go to education? The issue is no different than the Clean Water money grab the state did.

Rick Shelton must be as dumb as they come. "market could benifit from an increased supply of homes". Get real. You have over 20,000 houses for sale and you have just over 2,000 buyers a month. That means each buyer has 10 homes to pick from. At this rate Las Vegas has 10 months of inventory, not 3. Let's not forget all the foreclosed homes that banks own that they have yet to bring to market too.

The problem is simple, the investors who have been doing all of the buying are out of money. The real buyers/home owners who want to buy can't because they don't have the cash to fix the homes once they buy it. The nice homes are not comming on the market because folks that are upside down can't sell without doing a short sale and killing their credit.

The best thing that can happen is for the inventory to go to ZERO. Vegas did not have a housing boom with 20,000 homes on the market. We had a housing boom with just 3,000 homes on the market. Vegas has to dump the inventory even if that casuses the median price to fall further. Once the inventory is lower than the demand prices will rise. Simple economics, supply and demand will set in and prices will jump back up. Maybe not to 2006/2007 levels but 2004/2005 prices might be nice.

Housing recovery will not happen with 20,000+ homes on the market. It certainly won't happen with even more inventory like Rick Shelton suggests.

Another way of looking at this: We've had inventories of upwards of 25,000 plus homes over the last two years. The only result has been a lowering of the median sales price and we still have inventory.

I wonder why this article didn't mention the charter violation on the table as noted in this article:

http://www.lvrj.com/news/corrective-acti...

Not only did the secret ballot get Ms. March appointed, it appears that second vote that got her officially appointed violates the city charters timeline to appoint. She should be pulled and an election held.

Ms. Boutin has an oppertunity to do what is right. While she can dwell on the past and what she could have done, she can stand up now and do what should be done.

Ms. Boutin, put an item on the agenda to pull Ms. March and have an election to clear up the controversy. Solutions can be simple if you truly want to solve the problems at hand.

It is nothing like NASCAR at all and this man certainly is not on cruise control.

All kids can be overachieving. It takes leadership from Principals who motivate, involve and expect excellence from parents, teachers, PTA's, the community and most importantly the kids to bring out the best in each and every one of them.

That is what Mr. O'Dowd does. Did you happen to notice the enrollment at this school, 1029 kids? That is what most Jr. Highs have for enrollment! The schools official capacity is 611. So he runs a school that is 68% over its 9 capacity. It is a year round school that is full of portable trailers on the playground.

The deck is completely stacked against him, but you would never know it. He runs the school like a conductor runs a Symphony.

Way to go Mr. O'Dowd. You deserve this and have earned this award. Contragts on the wedding and have fun in Washington. The kids at Lamping can't wait for you to come back and tell them about your trip.

Thanks for all that you do. The Donovans
