The years have taken its toll on the casino now called Binions.
When I broke in at the Golden Gate in 1976, the Horseshoe was the place to go after work. We could get 50 cent drinks and a decent steak dinner for 2 dollars. My sister was a blackjack dealer there and she was making great tokes and wearing bluejeans in the pit. It was a great time to be in Vegas.
Now sadly since Teddy died the Horseshoe is long gone. I agree with the other readers that the canopy has got to go. I remember when downtown was the place to cruise and really the heart of Las Vegas. The Fremont experience is trying to not get harassed or mugged on the street past the Four Queens.
Thats my story too.
Waiting for the City to open. Dreams are made of this.
It is a shame that no one is pulling for this project to make it.
There is just so much negativity in all of these postings. I agree that things have definitely changed for the worse, I have been here since 1976.
We need to rally together and make City Center a success for the good of Las Vegas.
This was a great show and production by U2. They really were 'Magnificent',
but Las Vegas deserves a better stadium. I have seen all three of their shows at the Silver/Toilet Bowl and this one sorely highlighted the deficits of this 3rd rate venue.
Las Vegas REALLY needs a world class stadium in the future to host top events. The parking, concession, and restroom facilities are as bad as it gets.
Despite all of the problems with Sam Boyd Stadium, the show was awesome,
and the crowd was responsive and emotional.
