I say if a student does not complete high school then their parents and that kid can't receive any social security or welfare from the government. If you are going to be so lazy as to drop out then our society should let you be on your own. I am normally liberal but I am tired of stupid parents having stupid kids and getting paid for it. The real problem in this article is not the kid, but the parent who let their kid drop out.

Please Sandoval don't let these taxes expire. You have the businesses who pay them even saying that they don't think it's a good idea to let them expire. They are not new taxes when we have been living with them for 2 years now and even you have stated that the economy is back on its feet. Why take more out of education and give it to big businesses?

I can't stand people saying that funding isn't the problem with education. The reality is that with Sandoval's budget we'll have 45 kids in HS classes and up to 35 in 5th grade rooms. The only result of these increased class-sizes will be more dropouts and fewer companies moving to Nevada because we have devalued education. Look at the Bay Area and despite very high taxes high tech companies are based there...why? A VERY EDUCATED WORKFORCE with world-class universities. If low taxes were the answer then Nevada would have some of the lowest unemployment in the country. Give up your No New Taxes garbage as it is simply selfishness at the cost of our children.

Fine if you don't want to create a more equitable tax structure then leave the taxes where they are today but please Sandoval and the Republicans don't let the taxes passed in 2009 to expire. Those go directly into education and this state can't handle going further behind in educational spending and achievement. I am begging you as a parent and a Nevada to please just leave these taxes as they are. I am so frustrated that Nevadans have chosen short-term political rhetoric like no new taxes over long-term solutions.

Is this what you meant Sandoval by bringing jobs to Nevada? How can Republicans honestly believe that we can diversify our economy while at the same time gutting our educational system? My fellow parents of this state make me sick as they refuse to stand up for the future our kids. Taxes are bad but these cuts are much worse.

I would love a conservative to explain how destroying our educational system is going to attract new businesses to Nevada? It didn't work under Gibbons and it's not going to work under Sandoval. Any parent or teacher who voted for Sandoval should be ashamed.

Thank you regents! If the rural counties hate taxes so much then take their government services that are so "wasteful." The only thing wasteful are the hypocritical farm counties who whine about taxes but then are fine taking Clark Counties.

Any teacher or parents who voted for Sandoval should be ashamed of him/herself. He's doing exactly what Gibbons did and we still had the highest unemployment in the country. We can't cut our way to a better education system. Yeah great math and science teachers are going to rushing to Nevada to get a starting pay of $28,000 after this round of pay cuts. Welcome to the 3rd world Nevada....thanks Republicans.

I love this idea! I am so sick of rural Nevadans voting for no-new-taxes conservatives while at the same time stealing revenues from Clark and Washoe. It's time for them to feel the effects of no-new-taxes when their $15k per pupil budgets get pushed back to reality as Clark country is going to be less than $5k per student. Republican hypocrisy on display and I am proud that Horsford is standing against it.

How can Sandoval and the Republicans believe that keeping taxes low will attract businesses when the past 4 years under Gibbons proved exactly the opposite? Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Don't make Nevada a 3rd world state!
