THANK YOU CONGRESSWOMAN!!
Know that you won your election because health care was a major concern for Nevadan's. Thank you for being pragmatic, for thinking this through.
The lesson learned in upstate New York yesterday was that you were elected to do the great job you're doing. The right-wing tea baggers will NEVER support you. They lost. And WE can only continue to support you when you accomplish offering affordable health care plans available for us!
NOW, we CANNOT delay this 'til 2013! The faster the naysayers and tea baggers see the good results of your work they will quietly crawl back under a rock as they accept their "government" medicare and social security!!

Yup, learning to cut and paste my thoughts on any issue is one of the GREATEST inventions ever!
As long as it's relevant to the topic at hand and it's thought out, it doesn't mean that it's less sincere. These are my experiances, I stand by them.
I certainly hope that we'll wise up as a country and get our priorities straight.
We're getting ripped off with our billions of taxpayer dollars lining the pockets of criminals, while hard workng TAX PAYING citizens go bankrupt and are denied access to health care when we get sick!

Robert and I have been fortunate to travel and when we do we always ask questions of our tour guides.
On a recent trip to Northern Europe, Amsterdam specifically, we asked our tour guide about their social services system.
She smiled at us Americans on the bus and explained to us how their taxes fund their health and education systems. Needless to say there was a gasp on the bus when she proclaimed, still smiling, that they pay 37% of their income in taxes!
Then she went on to explain how when their children pull better than average grades in school, the student doesn't have to go to a bank and BORROW MONEY FROM THE BANK TO FUND THEIR EDUCATION!! Thats right, if they pull the grades they don't come out of college in debt!
Their helath care system is ranked as one of the finest in the world. BUT HERE'S THE CLINCHER:
She asked us what she thought WE paid in taxes to our government! She explained that although she understood that an American's taxes may vary from state to state the average american PAYS APPROX. 34% of our income in fees and taxes!!!
Then she gingerly asked why we didn't feel ripped off (my words) paying all that money and getting so little in return.
You could see the reflective, almost stupid look on us traveler's faces as we absorbed what she had just said to us!
Sometimes they know more about us than we know about ourseves!!
Oh, and by the way, for all of you so concerned about budget busting... correct me if I'm wrong..but aren't we about to invest a COUPLE MORE BILLION DOLLARS to pay off crooks in Afghanistan to do a little "nation building"? BILLIONS, upon BILLIONS of our dollars!!!
How dumbed down have we become?!!

Everyone here acknowledges that Boyd is hurting by not having any income revenue from the strip.
I still contend that Boyd has a GREAT oppertunity in purchasing the almost completed Fontainbleu, renaming it the Stardust, and appeal to the middle market consumer who won't fork out 200 bucks a night to party and play in Vegas.
One poster here wrote that Echelon is half finished....I DON"T THINK SO!!!
Tear down the sticks of Echelon, open the new Stardust (Fountainbleu) accross the street for pennies on the dollar and call it a day! The old Stardust, as nostalgic as it was, needed more than just a sprucing up.
They may even have enough left in their line of credit, (2 billion according to this article) to make a play for some of Station's assets.

Boyd gaming should finance the completion...rename it the Stardust, sell the property accross the street (the barely started and stalled Echelon) and call it a day.
Boyd could use a strip presence, and the Stardust has a brand name that could be marketed to middle market vacationers, something very lacking on the strip.

My friend bigb,
Just a gentle reminder that prop 8 in California passed narrowly, not overwelmingly!
When California had prop 22 many years ago, like Nevada's question 2, it passed 62-28%. Prop 8 was MUCH narrower, 52-48%! The needle moved dramatically, and though I don't nessasarily believe this myself, some say that the overwelmingly large religious African American population, who showed up in large numbers to support President Obama, may have made the difference.
The future for marriage equality actually never looked better. Hearts and minds are changing, especially when we can see how much politicians, Dems and Repubs, like Ensign, Gov. Gibbons, Gov. Sanford, Larry Craig (the men's room toe-tapper), President Clinton, Gov. Sptizer, Sen. Vitter (who ejoyed being baby-diapered by the D.C. madam),and many others, have not "defended the sanctity of THEIR marriages" very well.

And I dont think you're homophobic at all!
You just gotta follow the conversations, and you, like a lot of Americans will find that doing the right thing to a fellow human being, a fellow American , has little to do with "homphobia or feeling dirty".
I'm so glad you can appreciate that marriage is also a CIVIL act. There is hope for Nevadans yet!
Just the fact that you are willng to post here and listen to all points of view is a GOOD thing!!

Sergio,
Marriage comes with rights AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
That is why two people who choose to care for each other for a lifetime should never take these vows lightly.
Robert and I have been togerher for 16 years through good times and bad, through sickness and in health and feel very confident about being IN the circle.
Common sense dictates that us gays can screw it up just as much as straights. We should be treated eqaually under the law and live with the consequenses of our own personal decisions just like everybody else.
Thanks, Sergio for your thoughtful post!

For my good friend spock,
Jews interpret the law given by Moses as a prohibition against transcribing the name of G-d, because they feel that if God is recorded onto a piece of paper, there is the possibility that the name will be disrespected or destroyed in some way. The general concern with writing G-d in its true form is that it might be erased, defaced by being crossed out or scribbled upon, torn, thrown in the trash, or ravaged in some other way. Writing G-d instead of God communicates the writer's idea effectively, but since
G-d is incomplete, there is no risk of defacement. The Jews have other names for their creator besides G-d, including Hashem, YHVH, Elohim, and El Shaddai, which are also not written in their complete form.

There are, however, exceptions to the prohibition of writing God rather than G-d. The Jews believe that on occasion, it is acceptable to write God when there is no likelihood that the written word will be defaced. This includes the written form of God in the Torah, which is the Hebrew Bible, also found in the first five books of the Christian Bible. Writing the name of God is not prohibited when it is done carefully, with foresight and respect.
G-d is NOT a gay code word. LOL LOL!!
BTW, Spock and Sarge, notice Vegas rankings on the smartest cities? LOL...next to last. Bummer, huh?
From the married, gay Jewish guys,
