It seems California is looking to Nevada to keep its state clean. Mineral County is seeking authorization under the name of economic development for a big "coffer" to put California precious trash away too. California "gold" will then be put into a smaller coffer that will compensate the county for this priviledge. However, the parties seem to be covertly trying to get this accomplished, as no new news has been revealed in a while. It won't be long that Nevada will be buried in dollars along with the garbage. This confirms that money stinks!
Right on Bill! I think that the constituency in District 36 was better represented when the last Assemblyman (Rod Sherer)resigned, and the position was vacant. I'm referring to that void between the two of them. Sometimes the constituency is better served with "none" than someone who's goal is self benefitial!
I think all party members should be patient before they have their mind set as to whether they should support Sarah or not. Already, a large population is jumping to conclusions that Ms. Sarah is the head of the Republican ticket, we need to get our ducks in a row, and remember, currently, she's a party clone; without freedom. When all these allegations of abuse of authority, vindictiveness, cronyism, exploiting per diem benefits...the list goes on, are investigated and the results exposed, then we might have a different opinion of John.
If I haven't totally lost my mind with all this mudslinging for the #1 position, I think John is still stumping for that job!
I'm not sure how the gold tax assessment is implemented, but it seems that it should keep up with the pace of the daily gold market, just like investing in the Dow-Jones Industrials...if it goes up, we make money, and pay more taxes, or visa versa.
I'm curious though, how come most of the BIG gold miner's in the U.S.A. are from Canada? They come to this country, find gold, file for patent claims, and then own that land. Sure, the U.S. Treasury gets some revenue from this "gold diggin'", but is it a fair price? The Nevada county's gaining an employment base from this industry might think so, but when gold is $800.00+ per troy ounce and it costs them $300-400.00 per ounce to get it...maybe we aren't looking at how precious our lands are.

The reason Harry is supposedly low in the polls, in my opinion, is for his continued support of the organizations that want no foot prints in public lands. Harry is the leader in the Senate, a position that is earned through seniority and experience. To remove him from that position will be a injustice to Nevada. A lot of people criticize "earmarks", because they think he, and his colleagues are abusing taxpayer dollars, but "get real", we elect these people to get, and do as much for the states they represent! Harry has accomplished so much for Nevada, a lowly populated state, that this state wouldn't have had some of this support without a representative in his position.
His support of the "save the world" enthusiasts, I think, put his popularity in the sump. These are the organizations that help him stay in his seat, but they have dollars! A lot of us agree that rules need to be made to preserve the public lands, as there are many abusers, however small compared to the people that love our lands and respect it. But we are apathetic, a lot of us are poor, and can not contribute his campaign coffer's.
A lot of these negative posts pointed at Reid are from "foreigners" of our great state, and don't realize what this state didn't have before Harry did his best to get us out of the primitive age. Sooner or later, Harry will be out of office, and then we will go through this political evolution again if we are lucky!
It will be a long time before Nevada gets a representative that had the opportunities that Reid has contributed to this state. I'm a senior citizen, and haven't lived in this state all my life...yet! But I will! I certainly don't want this post to be misconstrued as a campaign ad for Harry, as I am disappointed in some of his actions too; Thank G-- for our democracy!.
