Let's be clear about something, sex offender registries are there for child protection and safety, the humiliation and shame of offenders is just a bonus and a good one too. Behaving in a manner that could label you a sex offender for the rest of your life should not be a comfortable thing. People concerned about the shame and humiliation of a teenager should really be thinking about the shame and humiliation of the victims that often carry their emotional scars for the rest of their lives. Put the law in easy to understand language and call it a day. I have no sympathy for offenders of any age. An offending teen is likely to be an offending adult.
How is it possible that this Albanian ice cream truck driver is still allowed to peddle his ice cream with 2 previous child battery charges anyway? Combine that with his disregard for school zones, stop signs, and law enforcement and you might begin to get the big picture here. How do people come here from lands with no freedom, then so freely disregard and disrespect the laws. I'm sorry about his wife, but he really should have just signed the ticket and thanked the officer. This man survived how many years in Albanian prisons (22 I think) to come to America and argue with the police over a traffic citation? I doubt he would have argued in Albania, he never should have involved his family.
Do people really believe the police go around looking for innocent parents to shoot dead? There wasn't a language barrier, this man simply refused to sign his 2nd ticket that day-$900 for speeding in a school zone. This is not his first encounter with law enforcement, he's had past issues and he's been incarcerated before. Sadly, when the wife also didn't cooperate with the police it escalated to the point where force was used. Please let this be a lesson for the people that think it's a good idea to argue with law enforcement in these situations.

Mr. Selimaj has himself to blame for his wife's death. He should have signed his citation like a man instead of throwing a tantrum. You would think he'd be grateful for his "American Freedom" after spending years in an Albanian prison, but he's already been charged twice with battery of a minor on 2 separate occasions for assaulting his ice-cream truck customers, and he has established a pattern of ignoring stop signs, school zones, and other traffic laws while operating an ice cream truck that attracts children by design. Clearly the anger management classes he was court ordered to take didn't help. I think the police showed a great deal of patience with this man by allowing him to wait for his wife rather than hauling him to jail. Can you imagine their surprise when she showed up and proved to be crazier and angrier, and armed with a knife? These people are nuts, these are not the kind of people we should swing open the borders for. Psychiatric evaluations should be a requirement for all newcomers. He thinks he can assault the children that provide him a nice living, ignore laws, refuse to sign tickets like the rest of us. These people have spit on our country, our laws, and our police men and woman. How dare anyone suggest that our police officers should risk even getting a papercut to keep these crazy, thankless, scumbags from getting themselves shot. I'm appalled that he is still allowed to operate an ice-cream truck!
