Defense, defense, defense!!! What is with these teams getting these wide open looks these last 3 to 4 games? This team has forgotten what makes them so tough. Nasty, in your face, trapping man to man, no good looks defense. We are not the most talented team in the nation. Hell, we might not even have top 25 talent. But, we have a very, very good defensive team/scheme. These guys need to get back to that form we saw in Anaheim, and start the offense with the defense. The bigs are not being coached, or just don't know to set up in the key, and their movement in said key is awful. Coaching? I don't know, but they should be begging for the ball, and establishing some kind of drop step in the key. You don't see anything from these guys. And, when they set picks, they half step it on the roll. Set the pick and fly to the basket and you will get the ball. I love my rebs, and I am as frustrated as everybody else. We have a good enough team to make the dance, and a great enough defense to make some noise. Get back to the basics boys. Bigs, for Christmas, all I want is some effort on offense please.

Longtimevegan, maybe it's your moniker, maybe you hate steak, I don't know, or maybe it's that you just don't get it. If you knew anything about this business and how much it has changed in the last ten years, you would leave a more educated response. These days, casinos' absolutely rely on the impact of non-gaming revenue. Why does every major player have a nightclub? Why the explosion of high end restaurants these last few years? Why all the entertainment? Do you know how much the paradigm has shifted to non-gaming revenue? Non-gaming revenue for casinos' is over 50% these days. That is an enormous increase since the year 2000. Before then, gaming revenue was firmly over 70% of a casinos' revenue. Not anymore, and hardly the "golden egg" it used to be.
Maloof is attempting a coup d'etat, and a very sad one at that. It is nothing new, other casinos' have done the same thing. This just seems sleazier. Maloof is in a world of hurt, and he is throwing everything at the wall to see what might stick. I think, as locals, we have all seen what happens to venues when a casino gets in full control. They usually flop, hard. If the casinos' were so good at running these types of venues, why would they need an outside operator to begin with?

This article is almost comical at best. First of all Sun, get some facts from both sides. Whatever happened to the moral standard of objectivity? Anyone who reads, just a little, knows that Mr. Maloof is in a world of financial difficulties. The Palms, or The Maloof's for that matter, are not doing that great, financially speaking. I find it odd that there are a few different companies that want to "position" themselves by gobbling up The Palms debts. Future takeover anyone? I believe it was a company affiliated with Harrah's. It makes "fudiciary" sense, no pun intended Mr. Campbell, who kind of likes to hear himself talk in case you didn't ever notice.
In this economic environment, having been in The Palms on several occations, it appears to me, that The Nine Group is doing just fine. After walking past the "blue hairs" and other nefarious looking characters, the only reason to be in The Palms are The Nine Group venues. They are consistantly packed, which means to me, somebody must be doing something right. Maloof wants to tear apart the only good, and apparently profitable part of his floudering hotel? Isn't this somewhat strange? So, after reading the last couple of articles on this entire nature, I came to the conclusion that enough is enough all ready. Sun, normally you give both sides, and sometimes sprinkle a little spice on top. What gives these days? I like this publication, but come on guys, read between the lines a little.

Wow, I am just left scratching my head with this team. Lots of talent, but not alot of bite. Yes, I know we beat Louisville in Kentucky, but where is that bite now? This is a strange team to watch play. One game they play incredible defense, and the very next game they look like @#$%! I, for one, am just puzzeled at the lack of leadership on a team that has some players who have been battle tested. Where is the consistency in the defensive effort? Defense is all heart, everyone has one and anyone can play it.

Anyways, I will be at the game today, and I want to see some urgency. I want to see "asses and elbows" all night long. I want to see a team that scratches and claws for a rebound. I want to see some toughness, because that is the only way this team will still be dancing come March.

Coach, I don't even know where to begin when it comes to Maxson. I could go on for hours about the way Maxson handled the program back in his day. It almost seemed like he resented the basketball program for being so successful. I, like many others here in Vegas, could never figure that out. UNLV, in the grand scheme of things, was essentially a brand new college, growing at an alarming rate. The basketball program was a huge symbol of pride for the students and citizens of Vegas. The Rebels actually brought more money to the university because kids would enroll just to be a part of the program. Maxson, with some help from others, seemed to be jealous that we were a "basketball school". Every time I see his name in print, I am instantly irritated. We love you coach, and thanks for so many great memories.

Ah......How sweet it is! Pitino was like a lunatic the whole game. Sreaming, yelling, finger pointing, and berating any ref he could find. I loved every second of it. I could only imagine what must have been going through his head as he watched his team collapse under UNLV's defensive pressure. It must be hard to realize that your team is somewhat "soft", and possibly overrated, while gearing up for the Big East Conference. They had no idea that UNLV was that scrappy, especially with Wink still on the Bench.

Maybe this will set the stage for a rematch at the "Big Dance" come March. I would love to face Louisville for a spot in the Sweet Sixteen. Of course, they will be the higher seed, and we will once again be the 13 point underdog. I will fly to the game, wear my gear, cheer like a maniac, watch us win by 10, and finally tell Pitino to go "Suck It".

NeNe, aka "Spiderman", is an absolute animal. I love the way this guy plays. Not sure he has the shooting touch to get drafted, but he sure has the motor to play at the next level. He does everything at full speed, and is a great leader for this team.

This is a team that is getting better by the game, and starting to play that "lock down" defense. I like what I have seen since those back-to-back losses at home. If Wink can find his groove, this is a team that will make some serious noise come March.

Great win by the Rebs today. Bellfield, although careless at times, is going to be a stud. He is, afterall, only a freshman. Nene might just be one of the best defenders in the country, this guy just keeps getting better with every game. This was a huge victory, and will look great on the final resume come tourney time. RRREEEBBBEEELLLSSS!!!

I remember Othic, played high school ball against him and Soares who later played at UNR. They were awesome, Othic could hit from anywhere, and Soares was a very good point guard. I agree with you coach, if Othic would have stayed home, that backcourt would have been unstopable. I hope Arizona will continue scheduling games with the Rebels. Love your stories coach!

Awesome memory coach, as we were chanting the "Rebel" call across the streets and dorms of Reno.
