I refuse to go to the 51's games even though I have been an avid baseball fan for 60 years. I retired to Las Vegas with a promise by their organization that they would find a "spot" for me. "We have lots of things a person like you can do", I was told by their Marketing Director. All I wanted was to be an usher, something to be close to the game I love so much. You see, I had been a semi-pro/college baseball umpire (as an avocation) for the past 30 years. When I arrived in LV and came for an interview (that I had to "beg" for) I was treated VERY poorly and told they had nothing for me. The ushers, I was told, were hired as young people (I am 63 - hmmm a little age discrimination here?). Anyway, I got a good part time job (as an educator/tour guide) with MGM-Mirage so no 51's for me. In my opinion, I think they are a very poorly run organization.
After last night, I would venture to guess Castro is "toast".
Let the 51's rot. After almost 30 years association with the game of baseball, I was treated very poorly by the 51's after all but promising me a job when I retired and moved to LV 3 years ago. This told me a lot about the quality of their organization and their integrity. I found a much better organization for which to work and am happily employed.
I love baseball...but I don't love the 51's organization. Prior to retiring in 2005, the 51's Marketing Department promised me an interview with "many things you can do with us." I had been involved with baseball at the high school, college and semi-pro levels for 30 years, including working with the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown for the last 5. I enthusiastically came to Las Vegas planning on a part time retirement job (not for the money - to be around the game I loved). They treated me like garbage. All their promises were for naught. I was given a cursory 5 minutes to talk with soem low level "interviewer" then "put in their files"never to be contacted again. Let them take their team to some other state.

This despicable character deserves to be right where he is. Nichole and Ron must be smiling "up there". At least our Las Vegas jurors were not tricked into believing him to be innocent like those fools were in California. Life is fair; it's just a little slow sometimes.
