Finishing the job in the mideast would be to constuct and secure pipelines from the Caspian Sea region out to the Arabian Sea, Then make sure the crude oil and natural gas could get to consumers.
Who can tell the difference between the Taliban, al Qaida, and an Afghani citizen? I didn't think so. As our troops will stay there for years to come, we will lose more of our troops for what? Afghanistan will lose more of their citizens(men, woman, and children), for what? Our economy will keep getting worse as we keep funding this needless occupation.
This occupation is nation building at its highest degree. To gain control of Afghanistan would put the U.S. in a perfect position to eventually take control of Iran, which is sandwiched between Iraq and Afghanistan, and allow our troops to protect the construction of future pipelines from the area around the Caspian Sea through Afghanistan and through Iran.
By the way, how can one tell the difference between al Qaida, the Taliban and a Afghani citizen?
Did you know that Afghani citizens trust the Taliban more than the U.S. military? The Taliban may not have been the best of Afghani rulers but the Afghani citizens are going to them for help and direction before they go to our military. Why do you think the U.S. is having a hard time building Afghanistans army?
...the President's defense secretary testified last week that the planned 2011 withdrawal depended on conditions on the ground.
Our government made the same promises during the Viet Nam War. It allowed that war to continue. Every time we were reaching that withdrawal date, we the people were told that the situation over there had gotten worse and we had to stay and correct the problem.
When will the citizens get fed up with these lies and demand our government to stop these occupations that are counterproductive for the good of our citizens, our Nations world wide reputation, and the lives of our troops?
How many of these mining companies corporate offices are based here in the U.S.A? Go to Nevada mining and click the websites. Majority of these corps. are from foreign nations. We should tax these foreign companies who are making billions from extracting Nevadas' ore. These taxes would definately help our state. Once the ore is gone, so will the mining companies. Lets do the right thing before its to late. If Harry doesn't vote in favor of these taxes, we'll know who's pockets he's in.
fossimmons where did you get your information that the FBI were refused permission to question the middle easterners? If they were allowed to question them, how would that have prevented the events that took place on 9/11. When did the trial take place that proved who the perpetrators were for the events that took place on 9/11? Any answers?

We all vote for the Politician who we think either will do the best for the citizens or have already proven they have done the best for the citizens. To stay on a Politicians bandwagon and re-elect them on past performance and not to keep up with the news on how that politician has been hurting his constituancy more than help them, is plain stupidity. To think Harry has done all good for the people of Nevada and will continue doing all good for the people of Nevada is putting way too much trust into a politician.
Once they have ventured onto the road of corruption it is hard for them to turn back. How would voting in a new inexperienced Senator who would have to take his time to become an experienced asset for Nevada, differ from the experienced Reid whose accomplishments for Nevadans are hard to write down on paper. Where has the fact that Reid being the Senate Majority Leader has benefited the citizens of Nevada? Where is it on record that proves to Nevada that Reid has done for Nevada what no other man/woman could do?
