Paradise Palms, another great Las Vegas neighborhood seeing lots of love and a stream of cool folks that really care about neighborhood, history, and a sense of community. That exhibit certainly adds to all of that as well.
Another welcome additon to the downtown scene. With the background of King and I and Mix Zone I'm sure Le Thai will be great.
I have lived downtown for over 10 years and have seen first hand all of the outstanding things that have taken root here. Countless people have been putting the pieces of the puzzle together and are creating a real community where genuine friendships are formed, neighborhood pride is strong, and new growth continues, even during these challenging times. Lovin' Livin' Downtown!
I would LOVE to see that program expanded on Las Vegas Blvd. between Sahara and Oakey...and really on to Charleston. What a help it would be to the businesses along there and to the neighborhood directly to the east.
A great first day. Lots of folks, local produce, fun location, nicely done. This could "grow" into something big. Thanks to the organizers, growers, and shoppers. Another feature adding to our quality of life, especially for the downtown community.
What's with all this positive ink on Criss Angel in the Katz Report as of late? Nearly 200 reviews from across the world on yelp and the show still pulls a dismal 2 stars. Are you snorting Criss Angle dust? All that good ink you dole out to Angel just makes you look bad. That show...even the revamped one...is an embarrassment....as is that glowing ink you shine on that charlatan. That show is such a coplete ripoff, I won't even buy Orville Redenbacher popcorn now that Angel is a spoksperson.
I don't understand why more of the downtown casinos don't embrace these types of acts. People love to hit downtown for the vintage vibe and yet the casinos don't really provide much entertainment to reflect that classic Vegas image. Dennis Bono packs em' in every week, Bootleger seems to do very well too with thier entertainment line ups too. Even more up to date live acts (yet still loungy) like The Lon Bronson Band and Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns consistantly pulls in good sized crowds. Hopefully these other acts mentioned can find long term or continue their current long term gigs. Downtown casinos, are you listening?
Absinthe is one heck of a show! Glad to see no serious changes.
That show has not only been a boon to the Gold and Silver Pawn folks, but it also has offshoot benefits as well. The residents at L'Occitane apartments report with the additional tourists, fewer undesirables are lumbering through area. Across the street Studio 8 Ten is reporting more foot traffic, and with the cameo appearances of Mark Hall-Patton, the Clark County Heritage Museum, is seeing increased visitors. Who woulda' thought? I love it!

Sounds crazy to me. Home prices are already at firehouse sale prices. The numbers already pencil out for developers to swoop in and buy these homes, rent them and turn a hefty profit of several hundred dollars a month. As a REALTOR I see them doing just that all the time. Do they really need additional tax incentives? It has been proven over and over that areas with a high percentage of rentals are not as well kept as neighborhoods where most of the homes are owner occupied. This is just another path down the wrong direction. If the government is going to dole out money (which I don't think they should), how about money to the average Joe who would like to buy a house, but can't due to a recent foreclosure or short sale in their life. Wouldn't some kind of a loan program to help the average person that has lost a home, but has kept the rest of their credit in order make more sense than helping an investor?
