Doesn't look good, that's for sure. You put a choke hold on someone, especially someone who is on drugs (legal or illegal) and you just increased the chances that person will die by a factor of about 100. Same thing for tasering a person under those conditions. We're WAY PAST the time for a civilian review board in Las Vegas. Being out of control or resisting arrest are NOT capital crimes in any civilized country though both appear to be so in Las Vegas.
The most important point here (very few who are sentient disagree with the fact that Ashley was quite competent at his job) is how does this firing affect UNLV's status nationally? Does it make it easier to hire good faculty and administrators or harder? Clearly it makes things much more difficult. The fact that Ashley's wife is a bitch should not have been very important, because, well, it clearly isn't. Lots of nice, competent guys are married to bitches.
When will they learn (never is the most likely answer)? IT IS THE HYPOCRISY, STUPID.
Anyone one else seen the parallel between Caribou Barbie's house problems in Alaska and Fat Bob Gilbert's VERY similar problems here in LV? Unfortunately, the state is set to KEEP paying Fat Bob for at least another 6 months, which will make a total of 2 years he and his lackies have been paid to do nothing (other than not rat out CSN admin types).
