Is journalism even taught at universities or practiced by the news media anymore? Oh wait. This article just answered my query with a definite 'No!'.
The title of this piece is 'Celebrating freedom through the fantastic at Electric Daisy Carnival'.
Where is 'freedom' addressed? Nowhere. So why put that word in the title? Overblown hype.
Even a lightweight entertainment piece like this one should mention how freedom is celebrated at this Carnival since that powerful word is boldly posted in the title to get readers to peruse the contents.
How far the media, both left and right, have fallen.
How's this for an idea on how to help to defeat Angle? Everyone send five cents to her organization. That will force them to put you on her mailing list, and the cost to her group of postage, paper, envelopes, and labor will help drain her funds.
Mr. York - Excellent letter. Speaking of military costs, think of the debt the U.S. government is taking upon itself with the medical benefits for the tens of thousands of soldiers we have spread across the globe. Medical benefits that will continue to drain our economy for these soldiers' lifetimes. A government provided and taxpayer funded medical plan. Where are the Republicans who should be complaining about that? I guess a government run single payer health system works quite well for some select citizens.
Mr. Smith - Didn't you forget an 'S' on the end? Seriously, you are so right. Besides the moral and political issues involved, imagine the costs to our great nation that go far beyond the immediate expenditures of money and lives. Imagine the medical costs owed by the U.S. government to all the veterans of these wars, past present and future, for the rest of their lives.
I must disagree with the statement that this action by the new Republican majority in the House "...is a futile and foolish act because it will be defeated by Senate Democrats..."
Firstly, let me say that I support the President's healthcare law, although I would have preferred that it contain a true public option.
But isn't it the right, and indeed the duty, of the Republicans to fulfill their campaign pledge to put the repeal up for a vote? If they had backed down simply because it is a lost cause, then would there not have been voices raised against their timidity? Would they not have been vilified for lying to their constituency simply to get elected?
Granted, we have many other important issues with which to deal during this Congressional session. But let's not reduce the number of potential laws, repeals, and adjustments to include only those that have a certainty of passing both Houses and being signed by the President, whomever that is. Such a scenario would lessen our choices and stifle our advancement as a people.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Dear Anti-unionists,
If it wasn't for union activists, we'd all still be working 12 hour days, 6 days a week, for paltry wages and no benefits.
The flight attendants followed the rules as set forth by federal labor laws. So if you don't like Americans who follow the laws of this country, why don't you emigrate elsewhere? America - love it or leave it, or change the laws - but that requires hard work and effort - which you obviously don't know anything about.
@ mplascomments:
first you say: "The 911 hijackers did not use photography, either did the Madrid train bombers, nor the London subway bomber, nor did the shoe bomber or the underwear bomber."
then you say: "No need for terrorists to use photography anymore, they can use Google Earth/Maps and Street View."
#1: Please provide your references for these statements.
#2: If your first statement is true, why would you contradict it with your second statement ("...No need for terrorists to use photography anymore...")?
hey gogowhitesox - the "gogowhitesox" were the 1959 team - about the same as your opinions - they choked in the World Series and your opinions belong back in 1959 too.
