Sounds like a friendly lapse of judgement. Elsewhere, because the perp is pretty nothing happens, here, the perp is hammered home. What gives? Sexual innuendo is basis for punishment, but not abuse of power and corporate resources for personal aggrandizement? Hiner gives one man the finger and goes to jail, a pretty channel thirteen journalist gives all of us the finger and it's ok? Am I missing context or am I just too judgemental?

This is a great opportunity to prove we won't stand for corruption on levels this high. It's not about public outrage, it's about character and integrity. She needs to be let go, NV Energy needs to investigate her boyfriend's use of corporate resources and we all need to boycott Tire Works. And for that matter, how is Purr-fect auto still in buisiness?
As a Greenspun Advertising customer with my company at www.needrecon.com I would gladly welcome an investigation, but it seems only bad news makes it news.

This was a long way to go to get Megyn Kelly's attention but wasn't it worth it? Where did Fox find her? Couldn't you forgive you're wife after an interview with Megyn? I'd accidently leave Harry Reid's number on my wife's night stand next, if I were Mr. Hampton.

Biting commentary like this is supposed to be funny from exageration for effect and reduction to the ridiculous. How heartbreaking it's true and happening in our state. Shouldn't the greatest nation on Earth be filled with the greatest leaders? Where is the "Great American Governor"?
Jon? Since 0 is doing all he can to make your job easier, couldn't you give him a little credit? How about Governor 0.25%? You know, for the entertainment value.

Letting your home go when you can afford it for purely selfish/investment reasons is dishonorable. If humans were soulless heartless corporations it makes sense, but we are here for growth experiences, and the damage done by this is likely irreparable. We all die and take nothing with us but our experiences and knowledge and disciplines. Can anyone honestly look themselves in the mirror after planning a foreclosure/credit repair/purchase at a lower price and feel good about themselves? The foreclosure credit repair process is designed for those over their heads, this is supposed to be a rare circumstance, not common place.
The nation is resetting itself after irresponsibility, let's learn from that and become better people. Don't you yearn to shake someone's hand in agreement and hold each other's bond inviolate?

FYI, and you might have mentioned it already and I missed it, but they did raise sales taxes last month. Sales tax collectors were once receiving a small discount for paying early and that has been removed. It has a sunset, so it's only a small piece for a moment, but it is a tax.
It seems to me that the best way to raise taxes is to tax what you don't want people to do and remove taxes from the things you want people to do.
If highways are a problem, tax the cars and miles driven.
If our healthcare is a problem, tax prepackaged foods based on their glycemic index and lack of fibers, tax movies and video games, remove taxes from sporting goods and maybe a tax credit for fruits and vegetables.
I trust government to abuse and waste our taxes, it's a lousy service provider and a lousy customer, as anyone is when spending other people's money.
Thanks again for a great, well thought out article, and one that I might say, hoping you don't see it as a put down, is "fair and balanced". :-)

I didn't see it that way, thanks again for a very informed, well thought out opinion.
I didn't see anyone mention that State Farm pulled 11,000 rooms and went to San Francisco instead, which costs more and burns more fossil fuels, and is a direct result of Pres. Obama's comment. I do see it as a great marketing opportunity to bring more people here, but(is it "butt" now?) I love seeing the other side of it, too.

Jon Ralston makes me wish i was a lefty. Thank you for your diligence. And there is nothing funnier in the world then (<- that's on purpose in celebration of the R-J) a publisher with a spelling or context problem

the Queen show at Fremont Street is wonderful. How did we miss the Fremont Street Experience on this list? Was it mathematical, memory or did someone down there offend us and I wasn't informed?
Wow, that show was even worth the occasional homeless BO and the parking garage that smelled like urine.
And if we're spending some money, how about the Springs Preserve and the Mormon Fort (that might be free?) The nature walk with real running water is such a treat. I could even handle the Springs sierra club rhetoric (you're a human, you bring oxygen, therefore you suck and the Earth should shrug you off like a parasite)
I LOVE this town, free stuff or not.
