How about at the very least looking at the tax structures of other States with no State income tax? Why do you think we have to rely on gaming and mining so heavily? God forbid, we value education and create a system of accountability. Gibbons stand on taxes is simply do nothing and collect a paycheck. Why are Gibbons and Beers not showing all the waste of Government instead of simply arbitrarily making cuts?

Hopefully, Beers will disappear from the State and be forced to actually work his way back like Knecht and Angle. The idea of no new taxes, with no alternative is killing the GOP. Where would we be if Guinn had not pushed for taxes in 2003 and attempted to diversify the tax structure? Some reporter needs to look at the Gibbons budgets and see the cuts that have been made? I can only hope this administration has a happy ending with Gibbons being led from the Capitol in handcuffs.

Cut the Mansion budget. I am sure Dawn wont mind finding a place to stay and the Governor can keep commuting from Reno on the taxpayers. While your at it, cut security also since you seem to have enough guns for a small army.

If you think P&P are using their cars on the way to and from home you have got to be kidding. The vast majority of DPS and County workers do not use their vehicles on a call out basis. Its a perk that may come to an end after these audits. When is the last time you saw a Sgt, Lt, Capt, or Major get called out ddeual? If you have 24 hour coverage in shifts the need for take home vehicles is minuscule. Does the public need to pay for govt. workers commuting 60 miles each way in some cases (Major Parump). Look at the abuse and cost and tell me this perk is not on its way out. I am sorry but the trough has run dry. A parking lot behind the office is a lot cheaper than the cost to maintain all those vehicles. Not disgruntled, just stating the facts.

Helen, first of all State employees get 2.67% for 30 years and 25 years for police/fire. State workers also do not have collective bargaining like your beloved county and city workers, who have been milking Las Vegas for years. Do some research and find the facts before posting. How would you recruit teachers to a place, when you start in the 20k range and homes in a decent neighborhood cost 300k plus? You get what you pay for?
