Rep Titus is right. I have an affordable, fixed rate mortgage, but I can't refinance to an even less expensive rate because I now owe more than 105% of the value. I plan to stay in the house for the next 20 years, so I can recoup the value in the long run. My 30% equity is gone now (on paper) but I am remembering that I am not really taking a loss until I try to sell. I just want the chance to pay less over the life of the mortgage.

Well, I thought the days of embarassment for Nevada were over when Chic Hecht was not reelected to the Senate! Boy, was I wrong!

The act of leaving a child under the age of 7 unattended in a vehicle with the keys in the ignition is a misdemeanor, unless these facts are part of another crime, such as child endangerment. NRS 202.575. Aside from the infant's messy diaper, the two-year-old was probably more impacted by being abandonned for two hours. How many two-year-olds do you know who can sit still with nothing to do for two hours? After a few minutes, this child was probably worried about where his dad was and when he was coming to get him. If the child had already learned to wait a very long time for his father's return, how many times had he previously been left?

Look at Illinois. Their toll roads were first implemented to provide construction funds as early as the 60's. But the roads ended up in such disrepair it was a joke! So then they let the toll roads be privatized, and they still don't have roadway quality, although tolls have increased steadily. Why would we want to begin this downward spiral?

When you add up all of the numbers for salary and benefits cuts, State employees are shouldering more than 34% of the state budget cuts. Nevada's citizens, and the Governor, are forgetting that government is not business. I get it that when your hotel is empty, you don't need housekeepers, and when you are short on orders you don't need as many workers to make your product. But when the economy turns downward, citizens need and demand more government services, and responsive government needs to rise to the occasion. This budget reflects a major failure to lead.

Well, the glove fit. Any of you ever put on your leather golf glove after it sat in your golf bag and completely dried out? Our Nevada juror's were a little bit smarter than that.

Nevada did have a "Son of Sam" law, which is still on the books - NRS 217.007. It was found unconsitutional.

Yes, just remember that "public employees" and "state employees" are not all synonymous. It's the city and county employees that are making good money - state employees are way behind them.
