This correction was referenced in a rather derisive way at http://ace.mu.nu/archives/257144.php. I came to this site with the full expectation that it was a hoax. Instead, I find it here with open comments.

I know that you're going to get pounded on this, but I'd like to congratulate your paper for doing the right thing. This correction was thorough, straightforward, and specific. It was clearly written even though it must have been painful to write. It comes up on a search for the original article instead of being hidden.

In short, if this is what your paper stands for, you should be proud. If this is a representative sample of your commitment to accuracy, then you are possibly the most credible newspaper in North America today.

Congratulations to the Sun Staff for honorable behavior when most journalists would opt for the coward's way out. While it is not practical for me to subscribe, I would be interested to know what Journalism school you all attended so that I can thank them for the quality of their graduates.
