"It's a no-lose situation. Religion gets marriage. Government gets honor."
Why should religion get marriage all to themselves? Since when has marriage been limited to a religious union?
Marriage has been accepted as a social or civil union for centuries. If a church does not want to recognize gay marriage that is OK. They don't have to. What is wrong is for government not to recognize gay marriage as a legal civil union. An individuals civil rights should have NOTHING to do with any kind of religious ceremony.
