Nevada's membership in the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) gives Nevada students other low-cost options besides UNLV.
If the state of Nevada would like to help its students and graduates, it could increase the number of state loan forgiveness programs (with a service component). At the present time, this is only available to graduates going into health fields. Surely there are other professions that the state would like to encourage.
Nevada students who plan on entering health professions have loan assistance available from the state in the Nevada WICHE program. But students in other fields do not get much help from the state of Nevada.

Students in Nevada do not necessarily have to go to in-state schools to achieve savings on their college tuition. Nevada's membership in WICHE offers tuition savings in the fifteen member states.
