I do take exception with the "17 year old boy" statement. Sorry folks, he's an adult, perfectly able to make grown up decisions. Now I hope he is treated as such.

Nice mug shots. Almost exactly what I was expecting.

Mr. Parker,

Exactly what constitutional rights were lost under Mr. Bush? I keep hearing the left repeat this over and over again, but upon perusing the Constitution I have yet to find any rights that I have lost. So, for the thousandth time, I have to ask: What rights were lost?

"It is interesting to note the growing demagoguery, ad nauseam, that the public is being subjected to in commentaries and editorials from conservative newsprint media attacking the Obama administration and Democrats."

So the the 1st Amendment only applies to Dems. And the public isn't being subjected to anything, simply don't read it or turn it off. I highly doubt you have truly listened or read any of it any way.

"These opinion writers only criticize, discredit and demonize those who do not subscribe to their right-wing ideology."

Simply not true. Many of the articles, interviews, and blogs I read bring up very good questions as to the benefits and detriments of many of the programs that Obama is trying to jam down the throats of the American people. Try getting some of your news from other places than DailyKos or the HuffPo. Where were your complaints of the left when we were subjected to the non-stop and and often inaccurate bloviations

"These pseudo-journalists have offered very few, if any, constructive options in dealing with the problems besetting our country, other than to "cut government and taxes for the rich.""

Again, simply false and disingenuous. There have been many plans suggested but the Obama Administration has ignored them all because they don't fit with his agenda. So, again try reading an opposing view before trashing it.

"Instead of contributing creatively to the dialogue on health care, energy, foreign policy, homeland security, comprehensive immigration reform, etc., they use their columns and editorials to ridicule other viewpoints to tacitly endorse their old and tired ultra-conservative agenda, which was tried for eight years and didn't work."

So, if one criticizes one of Obamas plans that is tantamount to ridicule. I call it a disccussion. I can successfully argue that Bush did not have an ultra-conservative agenda. In some respects he was not conservative enough. So, again, false assertion.

"This great nation of ours has again been blessed by the election of a compassionate, articulate and intellectual giant to lead us out of this morass inherited from George W. Bush and the conservative Republicans. Some of what we hear and read from the loyal opposition are tired, old and overused metaphors and sobriquets about "socialism," "Marxism," "fascism," etc."

This is the funniest paragraph of them all. "intellectual giant", seriously? Based on what? The "overused metaphors" are very accurate unless you can prove otherwise.

Thanks for the glimpse into yet more of the lefts hypocrisy.

I have a crappy HMO and pay nothing (my employer pays the yearly premiums) except $5 bucks for an office visit and generic meds are free.

I am sure that the CEO of Wellpoint did not take that all in cash, most was probably in stocks. From what I can find ( http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks/of... ), she only makes $1.1M with other compensation adding about $8.5M. And she is responsible for a company that generates over $60B.

Gordo,

What was the President supposed to do when given such information as what was in the August 6 memo (http://www.cnn.com/2004/images/04/10/whi...). No dates, no locations, not much real intelligence, just generalities.

Just for fun let's say we have a President Shumway and he was given the same vague information.

What's he gonna do?.....Bump up surveillance? Where? Shut down the subways? Which ones? Shut down the airlines? Which flights? Declare martial law? Ya, that would go over well given all he has is a memo containing a vague threat.

It's kinda hard to get information from a head that has been separated from it's body.

PatriciaLV -

"BTW, I seem to remember St. Ronnie using one Usama bin Laden to his (our) advantage in the 1980s, even going so far as to arm his merry band of rebels in Afghanistan against the then-Soviet invasion. I'll bet you never hear that on Fox or hate radio."

Initial funding to aid the Afghan rebels was started by Jimmy Carter in 1979. It was called "Operation Cyclone". So to say that Reagan was the one responsible in simply not true. Reagan did carry on with the program for good reasons. By the way, several other countries were involved with funding, supplying, and training the Mujaheddin.

Sorry to deviate from the threads topic.
