METRO IS CORRUPT!!!!

(Suggest removal) 2/1/11 at 12:24 p.m.

You are a moron Terrialba!!!

"Yes, there will be other events. I did not include them."

Nevermind the fact that NFR is the highest grossing event we have in vegas. You have no clue about what you are talking about. And UNLV athletics is part of the fabric and culture of this city - "getting rid of Rebel athletics" is only an option for someone who doesn't understand or care about Las Vegas.

You can say what you want about Titus being Obama's lapdog but what does Heck stand for? He supports the same tired, failed policies of Bush - trickle down economics, privatizing social security, tax breaks for the richest corperations paid for on the backs of hard working Nevadans. Dina Titus is the clear choice, Heck is a phony used-car salesman - I don't think he even knows what office he is running for anymore he has changed so many times.

Great article David. The corporate interests are obviously scared that Titus is not willing to bend to their demands. She is representing the will of the majority of her district, which is exactly what she should do in a representative democracy.

Stephen,
If you knew anything about fundraising and politics, the costs of the event are usually split between the DNC and the campaign of the person involved. No tax dollars are used on anything other than the usual secret service detail that any Vice-President, Republican or Democrat would have. Where were you complaining when Jon Porter had President Bush in town? There was a hell of a lot more roads shut for that event. Give me a break, what's "simply outrageous" is idiocracy...

The Mason-Dixon Poll from last October also said Dina Titus trailed Jon Porter 42%-45%. She ended up winning by 5% - they were a full 8% off just a month before the election. Also, this was before Porter and the NRCC drowned the airwaves with dishonest and misleading ads. Shocking considering Mason - Dixon and the R-J are in the tank for the Republicans.

SgtRock, I will quote Barney Frank: "trying to have a conversation with you is like trying to argue with a dining room table"

SgtRick - You are not even worth responding to, but I am bored so I will. I'm sure working class parents would disagree that providing health insurance to their children constitutes a "tax hike". Next you are a HYPOCRITE - last I checked, Jon Porter, the Republican incumbent that Congresswoman Titus beat voted for the SAME bill and openly bragged about it during the campaign last year. I thought you Republicans were the party of "family values" but apparently you don't think innocent children should be provided health care when they are sick? That's a hell of a way to promote healthy, happy families. You guys are a walking contradiction.

jlb101 - You belong in a 101 level class, if you can even get into UNLV. Ask any student and they will laugh and tell you that Rate My Professor is a website used for SLACKER students who do not want to have to do classwork or homework. Any decent teacher who doesn't give all A's gets low marks on that site. Further, Dina Titus is NOT EVEN ON RATE MY PROFESSOR - I checked just for kicks.

Congresswoman Titus has done an AMAZING job given the hand she was dealt and has listened to the people of her district on issue after issue. That is why she will be re-elected next November.

LIES & DISTORTIONS, CONTRADICTIONS & HYPOCRICIES - That is your only shot.

get a life jfnance32 - you really do have way too much time on your hands. You comment more than once on every article that doesn't bash democrats...time to get a job, or if you have one start doing it rather than spending hours spewing hatred on blogs..

Congrats Dina! You sounded great and I know you will make us proud and prove that you belong. We will be rooting for you!

This is a pleasant surprise; I thought the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee was a great appointment, but this is like icing on the cake. Nevada now has a freshman congresswoman who has landed a seat on two committees that directly affect some of our biggest weaknesses. Education in Southern Nevada has always been an issue and it helps that Titus was a professor at UNLV for 30 years and knows what needs improving. In light of the citycenter and other accidents, it doesn't hurt that we now have someone who understands the unique dangers of the workplace in Nevada. And transportation and infrastructure is another place where we need a lot of help (if you don't believe me drive on the I-15 around 5PM). With traffic congestion, as well as water and other resources drying up, effective infrastructure and transportation projects will be VITAL to the future prosperity of Southern Nevada. Titus is not a backbencher like Porter was, she will speak up and make sure Nevada's interests are heard on these two critical, powerful committees. Congratulations Dr. Titus, go show them what you are made of.
