There is usually a solution to any problem ...
A million acre feet each year from a totally new NON-TRIBUTARY Source could be accumulated in Lake Mead to keep Lake Mead reasonably FULL ! Accumulation would be possible because this new water has never been in the Colorado River before ... it is NON-TRIBUTARY water.
Development of the new Source will not damage the environment or the water rights of anyone, anywhere.
When FULL, Lake Mead generates 2000 megawatts of RENEWABLE ENERGY each year and the facility is already built and paid for by the American people.
The Bureau of Reclamation, the Southern Nevada Water Authority, Nevada and California have all been offered a complete confidential disclosure of the Source.
Problem is ... no way to receive such a disclosure !

Lake Mead is easy to find on the map.
With a new NON-TRIBUTARY fresh water Source of a million acre feet EACH YEAR, Lake Mead could be kept reasonably FULL and generating 2000 megawatts of RENEWABLE ENERGY from a structure that has already been bought and paid for by the American people. Development of the new Source will not damage the environment or the water rights of anyone, anywhere. With cooperation, the Source can be developed so that NO POWER is required for delivery. waterrdw@yahoo.com WaterSource/WaterBank Retired Water Rights Analyst
Nevada,
A new fresh water Source and associated infrastructure will provide the greatest returns in achieving economic recovery, tremendous job growth, greater efficiency and farm productivity.
A truly new NON-TRIBUTARY Source that can be developed to provide Nevada a million acre feet each year has been offered to the Southern Nevada Water Authority & the Bureau of Reclamation and other water agencies for verification and investigation.
Development of the Source will not damage the environment or the water rights of others.
Adequate water is needed to provide a more stable base of employment and sustainable benefits.
Water not only helps jump-start and sustain
the economy, but also leads to improvements in efficiency and better utilization of vital infrastructure.
Investments in a million acre feet of renewable fresh water each year will bolster the basic construction industry as well as technology and manufacturing industries where the use of equipment that supports these needs drives a much wider base of the economy.
In the long-run it's critical that Nevada gain competitive advantages that are part of the solution to repay the massive debt we are
incurring.
One option for part of the new water would be to let it accumulate in Lake Mead to keep Lake Mead reasonably full ( 28.5 million acre
feet) and generating 2000 megawatts of renewable energy every year.

I don't suppose any of you would be interested in maintaining a FULL Lake Mead and the 1800 megawatts of renewable energy it produces PLUS the 25 million acre feet in storage to insure adequate water supplies for the region AND Lake Mead already exists ....
What did NV, CA and UT have before candles ... electricty !

Unbelieveable...! Nevada, the SNWA and the Bureau of Reclamation have been offered a MILLION ACRE Feet of fresh water each year and they continue to proclaim that there is no solution to the drought dilemmas facing Nevada.
Maybe its time for the citizens of Nevada to ask the Bureau what it has done with the following offer to keep Lake Mead reasonably FULL:
August 19, 2008
TO: U.S. Bureau of Reclamation
FROM: Ray Walker, Retired Water Rights Analyst
waterrdw@yahoo.com
Subject: Lease of available space in Lake Mead
Attn: Robert Johnson, Commissioner
Robert Walsh, External Affairs Officer,Lower Colorado Region
I wish to deliver and properly measure up to ONE MILLION ACRE FEET of fresh water to the Colorado River which is absolutely non-tributary to the Colorado River.
In order to solve the water shortage dilemmas facing the region, I wish to store said non-tributary water in Lake Mead on a space available basis.
Evaporation losses will be paid by subtracting off for any increase in evaporation losses due to the increased surface area of Lake Mead that will result. Using existing capacity tables, this will be simple to calculate.
I propose to pay for the lease with some of the increase in power generation due to the increase in head pressure as the non-tributary water accumulates.
Lake Mead produces on average 1800 megawatts of renewable energy each year.
Releases of the non-tributary water will be utilized to solve the environmental problems associated with the Colorado River Delta and the endangered species in the Lower Colorado River.
The additional amount of non-tributary water will be utilized to solve the domestic and agricultural requirements of the region, as needed.
I fully understand that in the event Lake Mead eventually fills and spills, my non-tributary water will be the first to spill. The water quality of the delivered non-tributary water, at all times, will match or exceed the water quality of existing water in Lake Mead.
I agree to make no claim for any aspect of the stored non-tributary water as it applies to the recreational activities on the surface of Lake Mead, but I will in no way be held liable for such recreational activities.
The definition of non-tributary water to the Colorado River (non-tributary water) means water that under no circumstances is part of any tributary or groundwater that would drain into or possibly be connected to or eventually ever reach any part of the Colorado River or any of its tributaries in any state.
The million acre feet of fresh water was offered to the SNWA, Nevada and the Bureau for their independent investigations and verifications by their own attorneys.
Mulroy wants Nevada to imagin Lake Mead as a mud puddle. There are those of us who want to see Lake Mead FULL and are trying to do something about it.

UNLV geoscientist David Kreamer evidently did not provide any numbers regarding the amount of fresh water that could be produced from mobilizing warships now in mothballs.
A proposal has been made to the Bureau of Reclamation to store up to a million acre feet (325,900,000,000 gallons) of non-tributary fresh water each year in the available "air space" in Lake Mead. The offer includes a provision for paying the increase in evaporation losses due to the increase in surface area and for absolute measuring of the non-tributary new water into the Colorado River system.
For 5 years, the Bureau, Nevada and the Southern Nevada Water Authority have been offered full confidential knowledge of the Source which can be developed that is environmentally acceptable and without damage to the water rights of anyone, anywhere.
Internationally, maybe an agreement could be reached for 80,000 acre feet of the non-tributary water stored in Lake Mead to be released each year for delivery to the All American Canal to recharge the ground water supply for Mexicali, Mexico. The ground water supply for Mexicali will soon cease due to the concrete lining of the All American Canal that delivers water to the San Diego area. Just one of many possiblities....

Time for a "Good Trade"....
Now is the time for Nevada accept Yucca if
the DOE will double Nevada's fresh water supply !
That would be a good "Good Trade" !
How many jobs and much revenue is a new million acre feet of fresh water each year worth to Nevada ? ( That's 325,900,000,000 gallons.)
The new water Source can keep Lake Mead full and producing 2000 megawatts of renewable energy every year for Nevada.
A request has already been made to the Bureau of Reclamation to lease the air space in Lake Mead for the storage of a million acre feet of non-tributary fresh water a year !
More than enough fresh water would remove the risk of drying up the desert environment and would solve the problems for Las Vegas and the SNWA !
Odds are, Yucca will eventually prevail. The point is what will Nevada get in trade ... ?
