Coaching is a thankless job where everyone believes that they know more than the coach.
Many parents believe that their child is superior to other athletes although they never spend a second examining their child's skill against another's during the numerous days of practice that lead up to games. They rarely see the commitment or sacrifice that the best athletes are devoted to undertake.
I left coaching about 10 years ago after a student-athlete complained to his parents because I used the phrase "god-damnit" while trying to get a point across during a locker room meeting. That phrase would have been tame many years ago.
The parents went over my head and the entire situation was blown out of proportion because nobody wanted to stand up against the parents or the student for being hyper-sensitive.
I was given a "warning". That was my last season.
By the way, I've coached several championship teams in my years as a respected Las Vegas coach.
