Irwin Molasky appears to spread his bets as widely as necessary. Of course, we don't know what indirect means may be used to funnel money to politicians.
On 10-20-09 Foreclosure.com reported 23,677 pre-foreclosures and 15,687 foreclosures in the Valley. Today it reported 24,278 pre-foreclosures and 15,962 foreclosures. That's a net increase of 601 pre-forclosures and 275 foreclosures in the last 10 days.
I have a better idea. Why not keep the city hall there and forget building another expensive one?
If you love I-15 now, wait until millions of people have to deal with Project NEON. Can you say nightmare? NDOT says the project may take 20 years to complete. And that's for a valley that planners project increase from 1.9 million to 3.3 million people in the next 20 years. Any quality of life for this town goes down the tubes.
It's interesting to see when a working-class person (i.e. an RN with a plumber husband) cannot see herself, or the others she derides, as working class. RWAL2222, I agree that nursing is difficult work, but the pay is relatively fair in this town. Good luck in your work and your husband's work elsewhere. Just remember that work would more difficult (and less lucrative) without unions. Just wondering RWAL2222 and Appleslices: how much would you take to make beds all day?
What will Echelon look like if Boyd does nothing with it for "3 to 5 years"?
It's interesting to see the comments here. It's unfortunate the Sun writer did not have time to find experts who could explain the big picture: politically, historically, and sociologically. As usual, I expected there to be some scapegoating of those with less power. That's Vegas for you. But there was also concern about other factors: the Catholic Church and US employers, for example. Clearly this an international problem, centuries long, with many players and at least two major ideologies (neoliberal economics and Catholicism). So what's the plan to make it any better?
"Broadly speaking, the rate of annual decline in home price values continues to improve," David M. Blitzer, chairman of the Index Committee at Standard & Poor's, said in a statement.
Translates to: we've hit terminal drop?
Does Lt. Colonel Walker know Tennyson's Charge of the Light Brigade? Or how about The Common Man by Julian Tuwim (1929):
When plastered billboards scream with slogans
'fight for your country, go to battle'
When media's print assaults your senses,
'Support our leaders' shrieks and rattles"
And fools who don't know any better
Believe the old, eternal lie
That we must march and shoot and kill
Murder, and burn, and bomb, and grill"
When press begins the battle-cry
That nation needs to unify
And for your country you must die"
Dear brainwashed friend, my neighbor dear
Brother from this, or other nation
Know that the cries of anger, fear,
Are nothing but manipulation
by fat-cats, kings who covet riches,
And feed off your sweat and blood - the leeches!
When call to arms engulfs the land
It means that somewhere oil was found,
Shooting 'blackgold' from underground!
It means they found a sneaky way
To make more money, grab more gold
But this is not what you are told!
Don't spill your blood for bucks or oil
Break, burn your rifle, shout: 'NO DEAL!'
Let the rich scoundrels, kings, and bankers
Send their own children to get killed!
May your loud voice be amplified
By roar of other common men
The battle-weary of all nations:
WE WON'T BE CONNED TO WAR AGAIN!
