VegasBound

I live in southeastern North Carolina, and have just recently been reading the Las Vegas Sun to get a feel for the people in your area, and your thoughts. My wife and I plan on retirement in the Henderson area...so I am keeping up with your current events in the news...and the Blogs.
After reading these comments on Obama's TV speech from the people of the Vegas area...I must say those comments are more on the educated side of the road instead of what I read here (locally) on our news website. In other words...there is a little more constructive ideas and humor then what I have been used to reading recently from the Humidity Bowl of the USA...here in North Carolina!!
To be honest...there is more negative concern here where I live about this speech...then when we have a tropical storm or hurricane heading towards us. Go figure :-(

My wife and I are travelling to Las Vegas in May 2010...and maybe I can get some inside info from any of you locals on when the Luxor will show some discounted rates for that month via internet. Calling them gets me nowhere due to the fact they want you to reserve "now"...but I know better then to take that advice.
Any advice from Las Vegas locals on when hotels shoot out their discount deals would be appreciated :-)
