This death is not the fault of the pharmaceutical giants. Although the drug companies are not blameless, this is a case of very poor doctoring. I know that some will say that there should be a mandatory retirement age for practicing medicine because of this case. Unfortunately, there are many young doctors, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners who are over prescribing controlled substances so age is not the real problem here either.

kamr and doggie: yes, where does it say the victim is a vagrant? Do you have info that is not in the paper? The story no where IDs the victim in any way. Still do not know who the vicitm was days later. The aritcle does not say what the driver blew either. the article does not say either that the victim was a male or female. Fill us in with all of your knowledge will you?
So, Let's say he/she is a vagrant. Does that make it less of a crime? Make the driver any less drunk? the victim was a human being.
