Las Vegas is just one part of Nevada. The numbers don't tell us which counties are the least/most happy. I'm not sure who they counted here in Vegas, so many people still move in and out so fast.
MAGSNY1999: people do leave it because they don't like it. But, some can't. Lots of people get stuck here. Hard to move when you don't have a job. And, sometimes you don't know what you got 'til it's gone.
One of the biggest issues with Las Vegas is the ignorant attitude of "love it or leave it." Part of maturity is realizing when and how to implement change. This town has needed change for years now.
The more I read the comments sections here, the more I realize why so many people are miserable. This is a hostile, closed-off town with little positive reinforcement for intelligence or innovation.

Gonna disagree with the posts so far. Rounding is no more ethical than purposely clocking in and out incorrectly. I have had many jobs that used this practice. Yes, sometimes I clocked in early and it took five minutes or more to start to do "work", that doesn't mean I shouldn't get paid for that. That is about as logical as saying that in between shifts I should be docked for minutes not doing "work," like using the bathroom, or the time spent walking from one table to the next in a restaurant.
I had one job where if you clocked in one second after your scheduled time it bumped you six minutes forward, but didn't credit you if you clocked in early.
It's not about the money lost, it's about the casualness of management in regards to the treatment of hourly wage earners. We aren't talking about people making $50/hr here. Warehouse workers. So what, $10-15/hr?
If an employee is clocking in early and not working or standing around and waiting to clock out. It is the job of the supervisor to give corrective actions and eventually fire that employee.
Hopefully this lawsuit will go through and force all companies to adopt more ethical and accurate practices.

@Caroll I'm sorry someone else has a different sense of humor than you. You may want to suggest burritobandit2's comment be removed too, he called a judge "hot". That is not "relevant" and clearly contains "abusive language"........

These are smart kids.
This town is not a good place for a college educated person to stay and raise a family. There are just not the same diverse opportunities economically here. That is not to say that Las Vegas does not have its charms, just not the kind that more educated people tend to like in the long run. Hence the lack of people with undergraduate degrees here compared to elsewhere. <%20 compared to other major cities that have more fully developed economies like San Diego, Seattle, even Sacramento broke 20%.
As far as the UNLV discussion goes. It's not a great school, but it's also not abysmal. It really depends on which department you are in.

@gorebs97 concerning the negativity here. I have lived in a lot of places and I've never lived anywhere where people don't bitch about their town, especially people from somewhere else. Since that makes up 90% of Las Vegas, it's not surprising that people don't like it here. It's a cold, unfriendly city with a shaky economic foundation. When people are alienated and broke they get bitchy... People move here for a better life and few get it. Can you blame them? And it's not so easy to pack up and leave when you can't even find work.
