We pick up BSU in 2011. As far as any CUSA team they wouldn't be onboard until 2012 because they would have had to given their 2 week notice back in July. Although, their early departure penalty isn't as stiff as the $5 million stiffing the WAC gave FSU and UNR. However, let's say we were to pick up Utah State, not that I want them anymore, that might make the WAC fold and we could get all three next year.
But, not to worry. We will enjoy watching BSU and TCU win a few BCS games the next few years to carry us until we are a full squad in 2012.
If we go with 12 teams I want to see Houstan and SMU. A June Jones coached team is always going to be fun to watch. I like the CUSA and MWC championship with the winner getting an AQ BCS game too. Thanks BYU and USU. Things are looking up for the MWC.
I guess Tim Cornett is going to redshirt? I was looking forward to seeing his speed.
Omar did a good job for us the last few years and I think he will still see a lot of playing time.
Wisconsin is a tough way to start the season and I wish all our guys the best. Good luck and kick some butt.
We are University of Nevada, Las Vegas. And, they are University of Nevada, Reno. That would be UNLV and UNR.
If you want to make it a real rivalry then let's play football and basketball where the best of the three wins can wear Nevada. Two basketball wins and one football win where the winner gets to wear Nevada on their shirts otherwise they both wear either UNLV or UNR for their respective schools.
As I say that I have my own doubts about it. Most of the hicks in Reno can't even pronounce Nevada correctly let alone the hicks in Las Vegas. If you listen to ESPN when they talk about Nevada, which isn't very often, they botch the pronounciation too. UNLV just sounds sweet. I'll stick with that. UNLV, UNLV, UNLV, I love the way that sounds. UNR just makes me want to choke.
East: Houston, Air Force, CSU, WYO, TCU, NM
West: UNR, UNLV, Fresno, SMU, SDSU, Boise
I don't see BYU staying.
I like the idea of getting the entire Dallas/Ft Worth area for exposure. This helps in recruiting for all of us. And, I believe June Jones will have SMU into a BCS game in the next five years.
I want to give his MOM a big hug. She knew best from the start where her son would fit in. Lon knew where he would fit in. Between his mom and Lon they both knew he was a REBEL.
I can't wait to see him play. This is the beginning of something special.
I don't know if the guy is indecisive or a genius. On a Monday he tells us we aren't expanding. Thursday rolls around and Boise State is extended an offer. Granted the dynamics of the conference shifts were different a week ago but, BSU was a no brainer from the beginning.
The MWC is on a slippery slope. We wait and get raided next year to where we lose TCU and BYU. Or, do we expand now and still get raided next year. All I know is UNLV needs to take care of it's own business and start winning some games and fans need to start buying season tickets before we get left joining the WAC.
I just read that TCU is opposed to Baylor. So scratch them from my list. I'm curious why one Christian university is opposed to another Christian university. Does anyone know the history or politics behind that?
@ME posted that "(TCU is still bitter that Baylor squeezed TCU out of the Big 12 in the 90s.)" So, if that is the case then I'm with TCU.
My new revised conference is still the Mountain with the West Mountain division consisting of UNLV, Wyo, Boise St, Utah St,BYU, SDSU, and NM. The East Mountain now consists of TCU, Kansas, Kansas St., Missouri, Utah, AirForce and CO St.
I would be thrilled to have Missouri I just don't know if they feel the same about us.
That is a fourteen team conference. It stops there with Fresno, Houston, and Baylor dropped from my previously posted imaginary conference.
I like to include Utah St as I see them as an excellent academic institution and a sleeping giant in athletics. Someday they will wake up. They open this years football schedule against Oklahoma. They have guts and desire as they lost to Texas A&M in College Station last year by a touchdown.

You can't take anything away from Wisconsin. They are flat out a very good team. But, I'll take one Hauck over eleven Badgers this Saturday. The Hauck era begins.
