The days of the "bargain trip" to Las Vegas are over -- THANK GOODNESS! I'm tired of seeing the trashy people that the never-dying myth of "bargain Vegas" of the 1970-1980s attracts. I went to see Tony Bennett on New Year's Day a few years back in the Circus Maximus -- Tony Bennett ... Las Vegas ... New Year's Day ... Ceasars Palace ... get it? -- and while were there in a suit and an evening dress, we were surrounded by people who could barely manage clean t-shirts and dirty flip flops. I say go for glamour and forget the rest. If that means downsizing the industry and the population ... GOOD! Then we can get back to the standard of living we had here before the influx.

Tipping is related to SERVICE, and most businesses forgot how to give good service during the flush Clinton years because they didn't have to, so they are suffering. Those who give good service will never suffer.

Arizona Charlie's goes old school! Anyone out there remember what Arizona Charlie's was built around?

P.S. Hire local band The Clydesdale for a regular gig - you will be surprised.

"If you got a bunch of 70's and 80's bands together for the show, people would come out in droves."

(a) If that was true, then JuneFest would still be kicking. Trouble is, most folks who grew up listening to music in those eras are no longer into hanging out in a festival atmosphere.

As a music lover whose collection spans every modern decade from the 1920s on, IMHO there is plenty of great current music out there and plenty of people who would go to a music festival (ummmm, Bumbershoot? Coachella?) you just cannot tie the "success" of the festival to the number of tourists it brings to the valley. The festival need only be looked at from the terms of its individual event success, both financial and artistic.
