Bravo to Future and Abe, who continue to provide factual, intelligent comments to this discussion--as opposed to the anti-Yucca crowd, who are content to recite the same tired sound bites they've been inculcated to do by politically-driven Harry Reid.

Yes, yes, we all know how the NRC intends to stack the deck in order to overturn the Construction Authorization Board's verdict that the Energy Department's motion to withdraw Yucca's license application was illegal. Karoun, you have outlined this scenario several times already. Do you think we're not paying attention?

The real hold-up at this point is not Harry Reid -- which must come as a blow to those who have Reid enshrined on top of a pillar. No, the current delay is courtesy of Bernie Sanders, the Vermont senator who suspects the NRC is in cahoots with Entergy, the owner of the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant. The state of Vermont wants the place shut down. Entergy thinks otherwise, and according to Sanders, has the backing of the NRC possibly the Justice Department behind them. Until Sanders is reassured otherwise, he intends to block Ostendorff's nomination.

This is the real story. Too bad this newspaper can't get past its hero worship of Reid once in a while in order to report what's actually happening.
