If Palin's book is so bad, then why is it a best-seller?

Because "Dr. Seuss" is too intellectual for some people.

"I also apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused in inadvertently destroying any chance Nevada had for an economic recovery, and I want to apologize in advance for "inadvertently" advocating a corporate tax that will tank what little economy we have left and cost countless Nevadans jobs."

I heard that he also "inadvertently" failed to pay the rent due to the homeowner of the house he was renting in Carson City last session.

it is very telling when a guy that doesn't pay his bills sees nothing wrong with increasing the burden the rest of us have in paying them.

This guy is such a scumbag. He needs to go like yesterday.

To Lon West,

Guy Hobbs was 100% wrong in 2003. He predicted an $800m deficit, they raised taxes $800m, and we had an $800m surplus - of which a small portion was given back.

Guy Hobbs was 100% wrong.

In the meantime, the state did go on a massive spending binge against the warnings of many that the good times would not always be around.

We could be sitting on a fat surplus right now were it not for the short-sidedness of Kenny Guinn, Dina Titus, Barbara Buckley, and others.

There is no cure for overspending but to stop overspending. Even if the State had every dime required to pay every bill they have now, that is a greenlight to the legislature to spend beyond that in the hope of some golden goose popping a few eggs on us.

Nevada is one of the only states with the shortsidedness to increase spending as it has in this economy. We're sunk.

Yeah, but if he REALLY deleted the pictures two months before his arrest, then how did he have 17 counts of possession? Sounds like someone is lying.

In any case, if (according to the state) he never imposed himself on an actual child, the guy should have at the most gotten probation. I don't see the point of paying $25,000+ a year in taxpayer dollars a year to lock up a guy that never harmed an "actual" person, nor apparently had any intention of doing so when even the probation department is saying he's a low risk.

Common sense dictates that he probably shouldn't be a school teacher though.

I feel safer already that this guy isn't out there in his home *gasp!* looking at pervy pictures.

Notice how they didn't release this information before the "hero" funeral... LOL... what a joke.

Too bad he's not with Metro - would never have been fired.

THANK YOU STEPHEN HORSFORD!

He should have got the $500,000. This is typical Nevada "justice".

Horsford and Kilpatrick liked the $909,861 bid? Big surprise! Also, notice that UNR operates so inefficiently that their bid is nearly 10x what the lowest bid is. I see that their ability to budget is about in-line with their spending and exceeded only by their inability to educate.

Oh, and I wonder what result UNR would have come up with... let me guess... UNR receives funding from taxes... so lemme see... um... "more taxes on everyone and anything?"... That will be $900,000 please. Horsford and Kilpatrick said it "contained the best vision" (ie: MOST EXPENSIVE and contains the preplanned outcome that they want).

I would lose it if Moody's came back and said, "Government in Nevada and PERS obligations are too top heavy and unsustainable and the tax burden is too high to support meaningful future growth." I'm sure Horsford will be in touch with them constantly to make sure that they know the outcome he's paying them to justify.

If you want to do a study, how about a study on how Horsford and Kilpatrick were warned REPEATEDLY that if they doubled the business license fee that the state would lose over a billion dollars in filing fees and lost tourism over 10 years, but they did it anyway.

Get ready, because it just took effect, and we haven't even started our recession. Thanks Horsford!

Idiots.

Look no further than most of the members of our legislature to verify this one... Horsford, Buckley, Oseguara (SP?)...

Hey, I know, let's throw more cash down the CCSD "hole". That always works.
