Hey Ryan,

I wanted to get your opinion on two players I saw this past Saturday.

Sam Young looks like he has the ability to step in and provide quality minutes for the Grizzlies right away.

Pooh Jeter (of Portland) looked like he belonged in the NBA despite his small stature.

I only got to see these two play once, but I thought they were impressive. Did you know how they did overall? Thanks.

Also, there are some foreign leagues that play during the NBDL's offseason, and many players play in both. They don't pay as much as the big-time European leagues, but it's at least a little extra money.

I've got to go with Dave on this one. This kind of attention just isn't good for most kids this young. Fortunately, Muhammand sounds pretty grounded, so he may be an exception to the general rule. I hope he is.

I don't fault Kruger. I'm sure he needs to recruit like this in order to keep up with the competition.

The NCAA on the other hand . . . 7th grade . . . what a joke. Between this early recruiting and NCAA-sanctioned meat market summer leagues and camps, college basketball becomes more and more disgusting every year.

It seems that the NCAA is intent on making college basketball nothing more than minor league professional basketball. When I want to watch pro basketball, I'll watch the NBA.

The NCAA needs to stop making money its main priority, and it needs to focus on the student-athletes' best interests. If they do, the money will come naturally.

I hope this suspension is just a first step. Criminal charges should be filed against Margarito and his trainer.

This dude deserves some serious credit. I can't imagine even completing a triathalon, let alone winning one. Congrats.

My bad Rob. I just realized that you didn't write the previous article dedicated to Wink's physique.

Rob,

Your coverage of the team has been fantastic. But your references to Wink's shoulders and arms are beginning to seem a bit creepy.

Adelson probably charged each of the soldiers $200 for each bottle they took from their mini-bars.

I would like to weigh in on this matter as a disinterested attorney. Although Mr. Lichtman may be correct that Forbes controls the First Amendment issue, Mr. McGaha appears to be correct in stating that this was not merely a First Amendment case. Both the trial court and the Supreme Court addressed breach of contract issues. Thus, even if NBC prevailed on their First Amendment argument, Kucinich could have prevailed in this case based on NBC’s purported breach of contract.

It would not have been unreasonable for the trial court to infer that McGaha was asserting a promissory estoppel argument in support of his breach of contract claim. In paragraph 7 of the complaint, McGaha states that Kucinich met the criteria for participating in the debate by placing in the top four in Iowa. Although it may have been a bit of a stretch, I don’t believe that the trial court would have been completely unreasonable in interpreting this paragraph as a claim that, in reliance on NBC’s previous assertions regarding the eligibility of candidates to participate in the debate, Kucinich conducted his campaign in a manner to meet such criteria (every viable candidate needs such exposure and presumably conducts their campaigns accordingly). It was also not unreasonable for the Supreme Court to conclude that the promissory estoppel claim was not sufficiently asserted, as the trial court did not provide any such explanation in its order.
