IS this a sign of an altered condition?? I don't seriously think so.. Hell we're the city where thugs, punks and wanna be gangsters wander around in DAYLIGHT hours and shoot armed off duty police officers..If the police can't even protect one of their own, how safe are non-police citizens? Saying is "WHEN SECONDS COUNT THE POLICE ARE ONLY MINUTES AWAY!!" I have to agree to the saying being correct!
The police regardless of the department size just physically is unable to be everywhere when crime is committed. They aren't the public 1st line of defense, they're more like the news van that shows up to report on the terrible tradgedy that happened much earlier at that specific spot.
Well let's see...everyone was a minor..the girls broke the law when they sexted the pictures to any beside themselves...The boys had to have forwarded the pictures in order to distribute the by definition 'child porn' or failing that act, just showing their screen with the pictures to others is also distributing..Those photos can be forwarded world wide in a matter of minutes..They can be posted on internet sites, taken by actual adult sexual predators or pornorgphy peddlers.. This is not an innocent 'growing up act".. Photos such as these can mark a young girl for life..or young boys too.
Show my yours and I'll show you mine is a horse of a different color
Since 1983 amounts over $25,000 for single taxpayers, calculated by adding all taxable income with half of total Social Security Benefit, have been taxed at 50% of every cent above that threshold. Actually just did 2010 taxes and and the threshold has remained at the levels established in 1983..Pretty sure every other amount adjusted at the Federal Level, in any way, has had the parameters of the formula adjusted in some fashion. Thus "MEANS TESTING" has in fact existed for 27 years in this form at least. Oh and thresholds are higher for a married couple and for both taxed at 85% if the numbers pass the higher qualifying limit for their situation.
I was under the impression the information I provided when I registered with your site was verification of my idenity. Anyway you just emailed me a temporary password, seems that with my former "disclosure of my idenity" and the password email you should have an idea of who I am. Since I have and will never post an offensive obsenity laced or personal attack comment I feel posting any ID beyond my user ID to be an invasion of my privacy. Not printing my comment because you suddenly don't feel me trustworthy enough to show any of my comments on the visible comment section to be a restriction of my 1st Amendment right to "FREE SPEECH".
Just wondering, has there been ANY verified votes cast by any unlawfully registered "person"?..Because I thought there isn't voter fraud unless an illegal vote is actually cast, but I'm not a lawyer.
When I moved from Ca. in 05, this is my experience. In Sept 04 I had purchased and registered a new car in Ca.. That registration cost me $243. I registered that same car in Nv 6 months later and my fee was $448. Not only that I paid my insurance premium before moving here and had to pay another $80 for the very same policy in Las Vegas. So it cost just $38 less than twice as much to register in Nv. as compared with Ca.. Insurance premium was approx. 16-17% more here in Nv..
Which of you Rhodes Scholars forgot that she was first appointed to the Federal Bench by GHW Bush? Oh excuse me you all did....
pasyun8pshych..Unemployment began being taxed in the first half of the 80's..Our president initiated this tax along with a tax on Social Security Benefits to attempt balancing the revenues lost in the huge tax cuts for the rich. At first Unemployment was taxable if other taxable income topped $22,000, now any and all is taxable. Tax on SSB was set in two steps determined by adding 1/2 of your SSB with your taxable income..if your total was over $25,000 you were subject to tax on that portion ($25,00+)
at 50% of that sum..if you had a combined total above $37,500 then that portion is taxed at 85%..Those are for a single taxpayer..the thresholds for jointly filed returns are higher but taxed at the 50 or 85% rates. The thresholds have remained unchanged in the 23+ years since SSB became taxable..I personally believe the thresholds should be adjusted for only inflation at very least..
I do receive Social Security payments along with a small retirement check.
Have you actually read the minority opinion? More importantly do you realize how many of these prisoners were detained in the first place? Many were reported by angry relatives, neighbors and local chieftains. Some were ordinary criminals but were reported by rival gangs/groups solely to remove their competition..
Many of these detainees were recruited in detention, their abuse at our hand led them to join the jihadists. Affiliations non-existant upon their arrest but firmly instilled in them by the conditions of their detainment, physical and mental abuses.
We have created the best recruiting ground for the spread of terrorism in our own facilities..by wrongful detention and the use of torture on many innocent, non-combatant men.
Torture can never be advocated, utilized or accepted on America's behalf. We reduce our own honor, reputation and world leading position as advocates for human rights and the moral treatment of men.
Shame on those who label a detainee as a jihadist, enemy combatant solely because they have beem detained. History has shown many such detainees have been wrongfully held and abused.
Terrorists can and have been sentenced by our judicial system. If there is sufficent proof to show that case to be beyond a reasonable doubt, them bring them to trial. Lacking that proof could never make right our acts upon those innocent men.
Yet look at the $15.3 billion mortgage plan the Senate wrote..$12.3 BILLION for the LENDERS and all the rest a whopping $3 Billion for borrowers..I agree we shouldn't bail any person or Corporation out from this crisis.. But hey, McCain could become the next President..remember the S&L Bailout in the 80's..and refresh my memory who was Micael Keating? Which Senator was his helpful pal? If you're old enough it was you and I that paid for their shady business practices..and resulting collapse of that industry.
Hey, it's only my opinion

Yes, Prof. rick would have us believe that state employees sold their houses in early 2005 and aren't buying, gas or food like the rest of the struggling population. Somehow by being state employed they are immune to whatever ails every other poor sap living in this state.. But by gosh, at least we aren't paying higher taxes!!!!!
