The money for the teacher mentor program should be cut. Ruth Ann Springer did not ask for compensation when she mentored other teachers or worked with students after class. Ruth loved teaching! Teachers need to be professionals and realize that not all teachers can or should be administrators. If you do not love teaching get out of the profession. No the pay is not great - However, the reward is outstanding. We have to many administrators or want to be ( ).
Yes, we have some outstanding Teachers and these Teachers need to mentor others. However, in some schools we have some Teachers that have a difficult job of speaking English.
The New City Hall is needed. Just as a new central location for Metro is needed. Mr. Taylor and the Culinary Union are correct in wanting safety, good health care and a better education system, but we all want those items! The Culinary wants jobs and the Construction trades wants jobs, however, they the unions should have put more money toward bringing other trades and companies to Clark County than putting $$$$ into the candidates so called campaign chest. The reason Clark County is hurting is that for to long we have put all our eggs into the casino basket and allowed them to bail us out. We have people in office that are self serving and the unions recently put out big money to keep these people in office. Our education system is as bankrupt as some of our elected officials. However, Mayor Goodman is trying to brake the mold and it needs to be broken. We can fix our system by providing the unions and companies that want to relocate here with an educated workforce. Although, the unions and companies that are already here must make a break with the past and support the "Best Candidate" possible in elections regardless of party. Our current superintendent of schools should join our former County Commissioners in the Federal Farm System along with a couple of current Commissioners. When you go to the County Building look at how many out of state license plates there are in the lot. We must all start paying our fair share and must be accountable to the taxpayer and the unions should and can start by actually representing all members of the union.
Further Development around Nellis AFB must stop! We need to keep and preserve the Tule Springs area. We also need is to improve our education system so that green employers will want to relocate here. This would broaden our tax base. Otherwise we just may have a state income tax. Water is in short supply and we can not afford further development at this time.
Clarence "Tom" Collins is not stating the truth! Look at his actions on Gold Butte and all of the developers money he has taken in the form of compensation called campaign contributions. Look at his voting record when it comes to those so called campaign contributions. Ask him how many sealed records he has and are there any more pending? Collins has unfortunately four more years in part because this newspaper the Sun and the Review-Journal failed the voters.
The pay is 78,000 a year starting 1 July 08. Mr. Hosea was going to do the job full-time without any pay increase and without Sen. Terry Care making him be full-time. Because the position requires leadership. Mr. Hosea is a leader and was the first person to state that the position should be done full-time.
Las Vegas lost another rare talent in Dr. Lumpkin. Clark County and the City of Las Vegas are losing in the social and culture front with this resignation. Social and cultural value can be the economic stimulus we need in Clark County and The City of Las Vegas. Mayor Goodman has a great idea to improve downtown and bring a professional team here.
However, we must have educated workers to fill these jobs! Mr. Hosea our choice for Commissioner in Moapa Valley had good ideas for improving education. (Clarence) "Tom" Collins has done nothing for education and has stated he has never owned a library card. No wonder our Clark County Commission meetings are so long.
Mr. Gary M. Hosea our choice for County Commission B. in Moapa Valley was the first candidate to state he would do the job without enhancing the pay for Commissioner. Too bad those people in North Las Vegas did not wake up and smell the coffee! We have a costumed ____for another four years that is already doing nothing except sticking his foot in his mouth.
Chris G and Clarence (tom) Collins are in the same boat and they are bailing fast! Hope they make it to the Federal facilities.

Lake Las Vegas will recover and the Falls Golf Club should not be abandon. If anything the MGM group should purchase it and develop it in the future. What we need to do is cut administrative cost and this great community will survive until Clark County can get back on track. Atalon should never been allowed to buy this community. Education needs to improve and and quality companies need to be brought in to Clark County to futher broaden our tax base.
