RebelFanForever45, Thanks. That 2004 team also had a very good defense as you most likely remember.
Re: Silver, It just seems to me that he must have some "cross tie" with M.V.
We up here in the North have always respected M.V., .....and Virgin Valley, as a matter of fact.
Mahler and Tierney were both very good players. Mahler ended up going to ARMY, and I believe he has now graduated. Tierney originally went to Humboldt State, in NoCal, but not sure what became of his career.
This year's team finally has a "true" QB in Ben Bolton, rather than a converted RB. Thankfully, those converted RB's did a very good job, getting Truckee to the playoffs every year since that 2004 season.
We are all looking forward to a very good game on Saturday.
So, what's the deal, did Silver go to Virgin Valley for high school? Honestly, I don't know where he went to H.S.
The difference maker for Moapa Valley is #5, Matt Newton. Truckee will have to contain #5 in order to win. He has the most "touches" during their games and the Wolverines will have to hold him in check if they want this State title.
To Steve Silver, I just hope the "Silver Curse" works.
GO TRUCKEE WOLVERINES!!!!
Steve, "Props" to you. Not far off at all. The B.C. Eagles gave it their all. They have some very good players. Before the game, I was telling people Truckee 47-0.
No excuses here, Truckee did have a TD called back for a "block in the back" penalty, and the Wolverines did "bite" on the trick play which gave B.C. their only score. Truckee will have to play better to beat the Pirates.
The Moapa Valley vs. Truckee game should be a good one.
To Steve Silver,
You really think Boulder City can hold Truckee to 31 points? Truckee is averaging 49 points a game, and nearly 59 in their last 3 games.
Truckee's defense alone has outscored their opponents total points this season.
Truckee has given up a total of 3 points in their last 4 games. Those 3 points came from Spring Creek on a field goal as time expired.
The most they have given up all season was 15, in Week 1 at Bishop, CA. The only other team to score double digits against Truckee was Lowry, in a 63-12 Wolverine victory.
Congratulations to Boulder City for making it to the semi-finals for the first time in a long time.
Your first round win over Virgin Valley last week was your season highlight, and now your season will come to an end at Truckee on Saturday.
You can go to www.truckee.com for Lodging, Restaurants, etc.
Please enjoy your visit to our community, Lake Tahoe, fine dining, the scenery, etc.
Congratulations to the Moapa Valley Pirates. That was one well executed game plan. Coach Lewis clearly played down the speed of your team.
We, (the multitude of Truckee fans that trekked the 485 miles), were definitely surprised by the speed and athleticism of your team. I know our Coaching staff and players were not, as they had seen film.
Naturally, we were thrilled when Ryan Macken answered back on one play, galloping 88 yards to tie the score at 7-7.
The only thing I could think, was this is not going to be the low scoring defensive battle that had been hyped.
At least until the second half, when neither team scored.
Arbor View was an excellent facility, and the Moapa fans and players that I encountered were gracious, humble, and helpful.
See you next year, either in the semis, or the Final.
Melissa,
You are right, Truckee and Moapa Valley is going to be one heck of a football game. Both teams have hard hitting defenses. Truckee will not be overlooking the Pirates, as Virgin Valley overlooked Truckee.
