Do you want the answers from 1864 or 2008?
Oh, so the rule of law doesn't apply to the President of the United States and Commander In Chief? Does it apply to the members of the U.S. Senate, or the U.S. House of Representatives, or the Nation's Governors, or their family and friends or staff, or any of the top 3% of wealthy Americans (who make more than 250,000 a year)?
Or have we become a royal society where the rule of law only applies to 97% of the common people?
Isn't that why we declared our independence from the British royalty? I seemed to remember a little something about all of us being equal under the U.S. Constitution and all of us being equally subject to the rule of law?
It's shocking that Nancy Pelosi would have the audacity to say "impeachment is off the table" - who does she think she is? Worse yet is the main stream media turning a deaf ear, blind eye and silently ignoring this travesty!
Everyone involved in promoting the unnecessary, immoral, illegal and Unjust War in Iraq should be held accountable!
Impanel, Investigate, Indict, Impeach and Imprison EVERYONE found guilty under the rule of law - that is the only way America will have any chance of regaining our integrity in the world community - and it's just the right thing to do!
There's a middle-ground compromise solution, but first we need a paradigm shift in societal view of mental health. That being, that there really are people, far less fortunate than most of us, who legitimately do need help with mental health - and, like it or not, we all should adopt the view that we are the keepers of our brothers and sisters (or, cousins if you wish)!
Nevada can no more take care of all those in need than the VA can handle all the returning veterans - so, what to do?
Recognize the scale and scope of the problem and stop playing politics and piece mealing the damn problem - continuing to do so serves fewer in need and cost more in the long run!
A reformation is needed, and the Federal and State authorities should maintain a vigilant oversight to minimize waste, fraud and abuse - but, then, we should authorize any and all of the legitimate mental health providers to take in as many patients as possible and send the bill up through the City, County, State and the Federal goverment pays the bill - simple!
Who's going to pay for it? All of us of course!
While the Democrats will attempt to return to the days of a balanced budget - some of the bill will get paid. While the Republicans continue to pledge "no new taxes" the debt will pass to our children and grand-children. But, at least, we will be moving forward in taking care of the least amongst us who need care. With the proper therapies many will be able to become productive citizens, paying taxes, going into debt and not running up other expenses - it's the only win / win solution.
What is really insane are the power players that think doing the same thing, over and over, will produce a different result!
I have no intention of "attacking" anyone - I'm just stating the facts - and "Nightingale" is trying to spin the truth, turn the tables and launch a baseless, vitriolic, hateful attack on me for simply speaking the truth!
There is no shame for anyone aspiring to a career in public service - but, people entering the political arena who are not honest, and do not keep their word, and refuse to carry out their duties are not what we need entering the public service or political arena!
The Nevada State Democratic Party vote on how they "re-interpreted" their By-Laws was, in fact, due to problems in some clubs and caucus groups with financial accountability and just following the rule of law!
I was never removed from the position of Chair - that is an out-and-out lie on the part of the anonymous "Nightingale" - in fact, my older brother was struck with cancer and my younger brother had a stroke. These two family emergencies required me to re-prioritize my life and I appointed Anderson temporarily as the Interim Acting Chair for the purpose of holding elections - which he refused to conduct!
Facts are facts! Appointing Anderson proved to be a terrible mistake and I had no other choice but to withdraw his appointment and relieve him of any leadership authority and his duties (though he remains a member of the caucus).
Consequently, the Vets Caucus is in limbo temporarily until we can get a full financial accounting, re-build the membership and move forward with the election of officers in a democratic manner - that is what this issue is about, it is not about Anderson or Abbinett, it IS about the entire membership of the Veterans Caucus supporting progressive candidates that truly support disabled vets and winning on our issues. It is NOT about making Anderson a "rising star" that has been the problem. The Vets Caucus was not meant to be a vehicle where someone could selfishly advance their own career on the sympathies and coat-tails of disabled veterans - we don't need anyone like that in a leadership role!

How many more facts does it take for the media to arrive at a grand epiphany that Bush's war in Iraq has been all about profit from the beginning?
It's about the oil profits, and the contracting profits, and the sub-contracting profits - it's all about the money for Bush, Cheney and all of their cronies!
Iraq is an Un-American, illegal, immoral, unethical, Unjust War!
While we all support our troops, and their efforts to capture or kill the 9/11 terrorists in Operation Enduring Freedom and the Just War in Afghanistan (and now Pakistan) - the war in Iraq has been BULL from day one!
Bush, Cheney and the radical, right-wing, neo-con nut-cases have not only betrayed their own philosophy and political party - they've betrayed America and the International Community - and they don't give a hoot about anyone but their wealthy friends!
Iraq is all about the money!
Not only has Bush treated the U.S. Constitution like toilet paper - he's done the same thing to the value of the U.S. Dollar! Iraq is the THREE TRILLION DOLLAR black hole that is sucking the soul out of our economy!
President Lincoln, a Republican, warned us about immoral war profiteers during the great American Revolution. President Eisenhower, not only a military professional and moderate Republican, but a widely loved and bi-partisan respected politician (cut in the original form of conservatism) also warned us about the military industrial complex - again, where is our historical memory?
The historical facts have been forgotten because we have failed to continue to teach them to the newest generations of Americans!
In the lead up to Iraq I couldn't find a single reporter who could tell me (in their own words) what the Founders set out as the standard for the difference between a Just and Unjust War - it's not that they're idiots, they've been dumb downed and never learned the historical facts!
The Founders made the standards for America going to war very clear: All political and diplomatic avenues of resolution must be fully exhausted; Their must be a clear plan to go to war, win, stabilize the post-war society, protect the peace, provide for restoration of damaged infrastructure and get our troops home as quickly as possible, and the estimated costs must be worth the going to war; then, and only then do we go to war as an absolute last resort!
Bush & Company, sadly, but accurately, determined that most Americans no longer knew this history, and the lazy Great Fourth Estate of Journalist, could be manipulated, with plenty of exaggeratation and even out-and-out lies and Bush could start a third Crusade and send America into a war for profit - and he and his cronies could get away with it!
The media needs to end their guilt and denial and start doing hard journalism and reporting the FACTS!
Even the Iraqi people want us OUT!
Let's do the right thing - support our troops, bring them home and FULLY FUND THE V.A.!
