Has anyone ever read the book "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell? There's an interesting story in it about a shooting in the Bronx that happened several years ago.
Two officers gunned down a young man that they swore had a gun pointed at them. The man was killed. No gun was found on or around the body--he didn't have one.
I do wonder if this was a similar situation--the officers were in a high-stress situation where their rapid cognition might have failed them.
Which state was number one? Which was 51?
This makes me wonder if they'll be closing the location just half a block south. I know Walgreens likes to open a lot of stores, but within a block of another one? Even Starbucks doesn't go that crazy...
Navedd, it's difficult to engage in a debate with someone typing incomprehensible English--if you don't know what's being said in the first place, it's not easy to form a response to it.
This is a perfect example of Reid doing whatever benefits him politically instead of doing what's best for his constituents. Another example of how he's lost touch entirely with what's right for us.
I commend both of these plans, because it shows someone understands the need for a rail option between CA and NV, but terminating in Victorville is a complete waste. The Maglev costs more, true, but it's the only sustainable option.
Teaser, agree with your comments. I think it takes some getting used to--where I come from there isn't really a stigma about taking the bus.
And yes, our transit systems were planned into our hometowns, and it's sort of an afterthought here, so it's definitely now a challenge to make it workable.
I'm fortunate that this new ACE line will work for me, but there are still a lot of areas of Las Vegas that it does take hours to get from A to B by bus (if it's even possible). It's going to be a slow road, but I do think this is a step in the right direction, and I'm excited to support it.
I think this is a matter of what you're used to--I'm from Chicago, where I didn't own a car and took buses or the El everywhere with all sorts of people. I knew which lines to avoid at night, but the more transient crowd never bothered me during the day.
I live in Centennial Hills and work in Hughes Center--I can't wait to start riding this bus to work next week! I can finally sit back and catch up on some reading during my commute again!
How about listening to what the people in your district want instead of you voting for what you think is best?
shelly82, selling the cupcakes for cheaper doesn't make them any more stomach-able. They're dry and plastic-y tasting at $3.50, the same as they are at $1.50.
