Well, now it's at least confirmed that the Sun is nothing more than the media communications arm for UNLV. Talk about jumping the shark.

Articles like this are soooooooo UNLV. Low expectations, the crony network, and the local press still slaves to the their master.

A 'bold' move (firing Sanford now)? Good lord, can you guys be any more obvious? The UNLV section on the Sun website might as well be a direct link from unlvrebels.com

I would like to see the Sun quantify why Koloskie is such a great choice. Firing Sanford 4-weeks too late? Um sorry. Try again.

Please enumerate the myriad of accomplishments Koloskie is responsible for during his decade plus long tenure in this position? I mean, he's been there forever like a barnacle...got to be boatloads of things he has done to improve UNLV athletics, right?

Patrick, you are about as genuine as the weekly Mike Sanford excuse. KSand's point was a very clear and easy one to decipher - NPRI used Karl Rove for FUNDRAISING purposes. Big difference from the misleading picture you are trying to paint. You can't even bring yourself to admit the obvious.

What is clear is that you are yet another neoCon republican hiding behind the 'independent' moniker (i.e. Larry) to mask your true colors. Why are you neoCon 'independents' so ashamed of what you obviously are? You are fooling nobody.

The fact that neoCons gleefully hop aboard the bandwagon of a slovenly, uneducated, drug addict -- and think this person would have any sort of intellectual advantage in a debate over a past president of Harvard Law Review, and the current President of the US - really does say it all.

I mean seriously. Obama in a debate with Rush Limbaugh would be like LeBron playing one on one vs. the Opportunity Village MVP. Bright light, meet dim room.

Then again, being exposed as an ignorant loudmouth (i.e. Katy Abrams, Orly Taitz) seems to be some kind of badge of honor that neoCons wear proudly. Fascinating tactic, I must admit -- walk away with your hands in the air and claim victory no matter how bad the beating. Saul Alinsky move over. This one is right out of the Mike Sanford playbook.

judgesmales, that is the difference between people like you and the majority of intelligent, rational American adults. Knuckledraggers such as yourself obviously place no value on your fellow Americans, or America itself for that matter. You only care about yourself. Selfish, ignorant, myopic, loudmouths who steadfastly refuse to see the forest beyond the trees. That about sums up the republican party at this point.

Question for all of you teabaggin' birther sloths...if healthcare is not a fundamental American & human right, how come the US Military has a long held policy of treating enemy soldiers on the battlefield, giving them the same care and access to the same facilities as our own soldiers? Enemy soldiers being treated right next to American soldiers. Why is that? Are the military liberal pusses? Your tax dollars are paying for this also, Einsteins.

Apparently the teabaggin-birther 'patriot' crew have no problem with the Taliban and Al Qaeda getting medical treatment on their dime, but the hard working uninsured American who just lost his job can go die in a ditch.

Why do repubilcans hate America and Americans so much?

This is getting ridiculous. The media keeps moving the bar back every week. Each new game you guys provide Sanford with a new 'opportunity' to produce something he hasn't been able to in almost 5-years. I thought Wyoming was the last straw? Then it was BYU, Then it was Utah. Now it's a winless, coachless UNM squad.

UNLV does not have big money boosters to twist the admin's arms like a traditional school...thus you guys in the local media are the only ones that can put the pressure on the administration to wake up from their coma and prove they have a pulse.

We need to start seeing the local media putting Koloskie and Neal S. on the spot, no bs softball questions anymore, no more letting them skate with garbage cliche answers.

The story is not even about Sanford anymore really...we all know he's terrible, that story is old news. The real story is, why is he still around and what in the hell is going on over there at 89154?

As we can tell by some of the comments here, the main problem with this issue is that many pet owners are amazingly selfish and ignorant.

The fact that thousands upon thousands of people use their pets as personal ATMs is quite frankly, disgusting. First order of business is to make it illegal to advertise the sale of any animal by unlicensed breeders on sites like Craigslist. Disgusting and immoral.

There are obviously a lot of ignorant, selfish pet owners like Vegaswolf who really need a little perspective. Anyone busted for illegally breeding animals should be forced to work in a shelter as community service, so they can see the result of their destructive behavior firsthand.

I volunteer at the Animal foundation and the SPCA. It is quite frankly the toughest thing I have ever done in my life. I have driven away in tears many times. These poor animals are victims of idiots essentially trying to make a buck. Time to get the laws passed and in place to put these animals out of the animal business. Want to breed animals? Get a license and do it legally.

GDR, I will argue with you all day long on this. You clearly let your UNLV hate cloud any type of rational thinking.

1) Nobody knows who Harvey Hyde is anymore, or Jim Strong, or the types of athletes we recruited in the 80s. I challenge you to provide any form of proof to backup your claim that people still view UNLV football as a 'thug' school. For crying out loud, the kids we are recruiting now weren't even born. Please reference a recent recruit we have lost because of Harvey Hyde or our football program's 'thug' image. LOL.

2) Where is our recruiting base? That's right, SoCal. And guess what? All those SoCal people travel here all the time and don't have the stupid misconceptions and stereotypes about the town itself. People that have been to Vegas understand the difference between the strip and the town. Recruits and parents back east? Maybe so. But we don't recruit there that often. Cali recruits' parents by in large LOVE to have yet another reason to make a Vegas roadie. If UNLV were any good, we would be stealing SoCal recruits left and right from every PAC10 school except SC right now.

3) Anyone who thinks an on-campus stadium is necessary for a winning football program is an absolute retard. Miami U. UCLA. To name a few. There are probably 25 examples of programs with winning histories that still don't play on-campus. If you are a top-25 program that garners national respect, or at the very least, a program that consistently fields a winning team, you could play the games at the friggin intramural fields and the kids and fans would care less. Winning cures everything.

Quiet, you certainly do know it all. I bask in your glory. Perhaps I can shake your hand once you get done patting yourself on the back.

Here is a hint oh wise one - football coaches are public figures and take the job knowing that their success or failure will be on a very public stage. When coaches get fired, it is typically public and ugly. Something you clearly know nothing about judging from your comments.

Nobody thinks Koloskie should come out in the post-game presser and say Sanford is fired. Don't put words in our mouths, sparky. All anyone asks for is some level of accountability and acknowledgement that there is a problem that needs to be addressed. Koloskie hasn't even come close.

Oh and nice to see you can project that a) firing Sanford would make things worse (LMAO) or b) that this team does not have enough talent to beat AFA, UNM, SDSU and CSU to reach 6-wins. I thought you hated armchair quarterbacks? Hypocrite.

kirkland, all great points. Unfortunately, the answer is a simple one. It starts at the top. Total. Complete. Incompetence. And it's been that way for a long, long time. Koloskie = Exhibit A. In way over his head.

In order to win big, one must think big. At UNLV, we have a bunch of small minds that lack the ability to bust out of that vacuum of incompetence. I mean, last time I checked the budget situation has hit every school hard...the only difference? UNLV uses it as an excuse to do nothing...cause you know, it's hard out there! Meanwhile other programs look past the excuses and do what needs to be done.

When there is a will, there is a way. And it's been made perfectly clear by the UNLV Admin. that there is no will.

If anyone thinks Koloskie is going to lift a finger to do anything out of the box i.e. firing Sanford mid-season, you're dreaming. All he's going to give us is the same ol, same ol.
