Hooters built an empire on "good wings". I always thought of 40/40 as a "High dollar, Hip-Hop Hooters". Am I wrong?
What I find surprising is that the newspaper that is most famous and respected for Mr. Hank Greenspun's courageous editorials speaking out against Joe McCarthy before anyone else, is putting out this story under the byline "Sun Staff". Is Steve Friess so powerful that no one wants their name on this story? Or maybe someone has a score to settle?

2 lines down from the end of this article online are Google ads for pain pills without a prescription. Another part of the puzzle? I hear Hydrocodone is available over the counter in Canada and Mexico, how does the U.S. compare with other countries in regulation of these meds?

This article, and others in this series, infer that penalites are reduced exclusively on Strip incidents. Negotiated settlements are the norm in these types of incidents anywhere in America. Refusing to reduce penalties generally is more of a political move than a reaction to a serious violation.

I think that's Father's day, is that a busy Las Vegas weekend?

A very generous and patriotic move done, I understand, quietly. When Mr. Adleson could have used some good pub, he didn't seek it. Guess I'll "give credit where credit's due".

The most disturbing editorial I have ever read. Mr. Greenspun is engaging in either the senile or the sinister.
The senile is "Old man thinking". Limiting all positive accomplishment to those we know, and refusing to admit any newcomer can achieve at an acceptable level. Examples would be "FDR, JFK, Ronald Regan or Bill Clinton (Depending on your generation and politics) was the greatest president ever, and no one else could come close." "No could be as good a casino man as Moe Dalitz." or "Michael Gaughan can never be as good as his father." This type of thinking refuses to admit that the beat truly does go on, and time waits for no one.
More frightening is the Sinister. "The Greenspun family business enterprises were worth about a million dollars when Mr. Woodbury came into office, and now it's over a billion. I'll gladly support the status quo when it helps us get a thousand times richer!"
Truth be told, there are almost two million people in the Las Vegas area, scores of who can do as fine a job as the exiting people. No one is irreplaceable, and no one is the greatest of all time. Jeff Leatherock

Who in Nevada pays any tax beside Gaming? No income tax, no business tax, except gaming. Nevadans get the biggest free ride on taxes in America. Pay your fair share, Nevadans!
Listen to an interview with Mr. Lanni, he is clearly intelligent and articulate, probably too smart to run your small town state.

This editiorial makes me think that Mr. Greenspun got a phone call from Tom Hagan (In the Godfather).
Recently the Clinton campaign came under fire for their perceived "high roller" lodging expenditures during the Nevada primary. It should be surprising, but isn't, that Mr. Greenspun apparantly made no effort to head this off beforehand, or take the fall after the fact. It does reinforce the perception that the entire Clinton campaign is out of touch.
My gut feeling is that Americans will hold on to their belief in a male in charge Presidency, moreso than a white in charge Presidency. I think this is especially true with older women, many of whom can't stand Ms. Clinton. I also think they will lie about the male-female issue more than the white-black. I think 5 to 8% will say they will vote for Ms. Clinton, but won't. I also think the white-black lie goes both ways, and many pollsters can't get a good grip on those who say they won't vote for a black man, but will in the privacy of the voting booth.

About teacher turnover, it is reasonable to assume 70% of entry level teachers are females age 24 or younger. The percentage of general population females of the same age who quit to have children or change jobs (or careers) within 3 years is roughly the same as the entry level teachers.
Wyoming may pay teachers more, but, the cost of living is higher than Nevada. The cost of living is Southern Nevada is 3% above the national average. Teton County, Wyomings (Jackson Hole) is 30% above the national average. Those higher salaries aren't in line with the higher cost of living.
Out of state visitors pay a higher percentage of the tax burden in Nevada than any other state in the Nation. One industry (Gaming) pays a higher percentage of the tax burdern in Nevada than any other industry pays in another state in the nation. The average Nevada resident has one of the lowest tax burdens in the nation.

Wynn is a publicly traded company, I assume dealer tip distributions have to be reported quarterly in their legal filings. I've never read a Wynn dealer respond directly to that. I've always heard that dealers pool all tips equally, yet asign shifts based on seniority, i.e. senior dealers get Monday-Friday 8 to 5, yet get an equal cut of Friday and Saturday night money. Is this correct?
