This same thing happened to me at Fresh & Easy a few months ago. My cell phone rang and I went to get it out of my purse. My gun was covering it. My gun was holsterd. I got my phone and dropped my gun in my purse. Someone called the police. I had no clue and realy thought nothing of it. I contunied my shopping when I was approached by metro. I've had a WCP for years. My former husband was a high ranking military officer stationed at Nellis AFB. I now work in a high volume cash type buisness for a lending company. The police however where polite and not confrontational at all. I could of refused the search of my purse. They ran the gun and my license. Told me to be more careful with the weapon in public. It could of been much worse if I stood up for my rights. I had done nothing wrong and I did not want it to become an issue. I'm just lucky someone did not lie nad say I was acting erratic. i could of cost me my life !
Figures, he was a perve when he was a veterinarian here in Vegas, I knew it was a matter of time. I feel sorry for his wife. I always have. Let's hope he learns a lesson and stays in public office because he was a terrible Vet.
I am Verlaine's replacement at Cash Plus. Or I'm trying to be. Not a day goes by a customer does not miss or comment on what a wonderful beautiful smart and talented young woman Verlaine was. I feel very fortunate to work with people who accually care for the people they work with. Its amazing how a few people could stop traffic and place themselves in danger to do the right thing. Although I'm deeply saddened by the way I came to be employed at Cash Plus. I'm more certain than ever I made the correct choice. I will struggle and to try and fill the shoes of such a loved and missed co-worker. I work with people of depth and character. Now that's integrity. I will continue to listen to how Verlaine will be missed by our small staff and the customers who come into our store. I will encourage them to make a stand to stop such a needless tragedy from every happening again.

It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that perhaps she was not in a cross walk and was in the road ? How can a reporter get all the facts when the police are still investigating and don't have time to talk to the media. I work right off Las Vegas blvd and a man is always riding his scooter like wheel chair in the street, granted it's not like he can ride it through the gravel but at least he can go with the flow of traffic. People do need to slow down and pay attention because even if it's not your fault you killed someone. How do you live with that? The intersection where I work finally got a light last year after several deaths, one being my 19 year old employee. The man was charged with manslaughter for running her down but it seems Nevada can't be bothered with extradition, but don't worry if he's pulled over in Nevada he will be arrested !
