For the real truth go to http://therealrontaylor.org
Ron Taylor is the only candidate with enough knowledge and perserverance to help turn CCSD around. I don't think we need another school board that will sit around and pat each other on the back for helping to make Nevada 48th in education in the USA. And, I don't think we need another school board that accepts big, fat raises while students go without basic supplies.
Vote to improve public education. Vote for Ron Taylor.
If you want to know the truth about Ron Taylor go to http://therealrontaylor.net He has had the courage and conviction to take a public stand for what he believes in his entire life. Exactly the type of courage and conviction that can put CCSD back on track.
Vote Ron Taylor for School Board District B. http://rontaylor.info. The only candidate with enough inside knowledge and conviction to make a positive change for kids.
Dr. Goldman is right about the benefits of splitting up CCSD. Smaller school districts are more manageable and can communicate better with their teachers and parents. Also, as Ron Taylor http://rontaylor.info pointed out in a previous interview, "the infra-structure to break up the school district is already there. A break up would not require more taxpayer money."
As a teacher for 18 years, I disagree with at least 2 of the Sun's choices for school board. At a debate at Cheyenne High School, Linda Young was by far the most knowledgable and energetic candidate. She had excellent rapport with students, parents, and attending teachers.
Ron Taylor ran circles around Chris Garvey. Garvey mentioned today in an interview on KNPR that she wants to tax the mining industry to fund education and build smaller schools.
Taylor wants CCSD to put as many teachers as possible back into the schools and work with existing buildings. Taylor points out that there are 18k teachers in CCSD with only 14k teachers assigned to schools. That's 4,000 teachers NOT working with kids. Taylor showed a bigger desire to respect taxpayers money combined with substaintially improving CCSD.
The Sun obviously missed the debate at Cheyenne and has no inside sources at KNPR.
A big YES! to Eddie Goldman.
Dina Titus has vast knowledge on a wide range of topics ..from education to clean energy. She's like that Energizer Bunny on tv .. "she takes a lickin' but keeps on tickin'." Titus appears to work round-the-clock to stay current on issues and promote causes that she is passionate about. Titus has my vote.
Ron Taylor is doing the right thing by putting the issues first and not promoting a self-centered agenda. Ron Taylor can get the focus of the School Board back onto the students, teachers and classroom supplies.

Ron Taylor may have lost the battle, but he won the war. He has done a great job of laying the foundation for improved teacher advocacy here in Las Vegas. He was the first teacher in CCSD willing to take a stand for taxpayers to try and ensure that money found its way into the classrooms and did not get lost in unneccessary jobs. He was the only candidate to give the rural area of Mesquite a voice and a unique plan that was tailor-made for their community. He was the only candidate that wanted to focus on extending the high school day and putting a large focus on truancy.
Ron Taylor took a stand against CCEA to try and put retired teachers back on the state health plan. He questioned the costs of the CTE Program and tried to track where all the money went to bring down fees for teachers.
Congratulations to Ron Taylor for running a campaign with honesty and integrity and standing up for kids.
