Nance, You are incredible! Are you really old enough to vote? You don't sound like it. I first voted in 1952--for Eisenhower. You had to be 21 in those days. And it was the last time I ever voted for a Republican. After college and law school I realized the vast differences between the 2 parties. One is for the rich and those lusting for wealth; the other is for everyone else. Do you honestly think those people have your interests at heart? How do you benefit from the Iraq war? Do you own oil stocks? How about an insurance company? Boeing? A piece of Whitewater? Or maybe you have an HMO in your portfolio?
With regard to your Right To Life opinion, get real! What do you know of the agony a woman goes through while having to decide whether to abort a baby? Do you think YOU have the right to make that decision for her? I don't, unless you were the one who made her pregnant.
In choosing Palin, McCain made an impulsive and obvious attempt to win the Clinton supporters. He had only met her once before. She's a pretty face but her background and inconsistencies make her a totally inappropriate choice for VP. He's an old man with cancer issues. The thought of her as heir to the White House is incredible!
This is one Clinton supporter who will do all I can to see that it never happens.
I was a Hillary supporter who donated more to her campaign than I ever have before. I was not excited by Obama's presidential aspirations and have been slow to change my allegience. Except for one thing. I am a Democrat. I have respected McCain when he demonstrated courage and, in my opinion, good judgment, on various legislative issues. However, I could never support him as a Presidential choice as long as he goes along with his party's positions on the Iraq war, the economy, health care, and women's right to choose abortion when necessary. We do not live in a theocracy--at least not yet.
McCain's choice of Sarah Palin is obviously an attempt to win the votes of disgruntled supporters of Sen. Clinton. As such, I take it is an insult. It was an impulse choice without careful consideration. Unfortuneately, it is typical of old John. As the campaign progresses, more will be known of her character and record. She is beautiful but her education and experience aren't what is needed as #2 to a 72 year old with several bouts of cancer behind him. And she is a creationist to boot!
Can anyone even imagine what a President Palin would be like? I can't, and I don't want to.

Since McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate, I have changed my position on supporting Obama. I felt that Sen. Clinton was the best choice for President because of her intelligence, education, policy positions, and experience. I still feel that way. However, Palin is scary with her evangelical, creationist, anti-abortion stance, her "pit-bull", sarcastic, empty-headed manner, and her total lack of experience in national and world affairs. When asked about her foreign policy experience, she said that she "lives next door to Russia and Canada" and then went on to talk about hunting moose with her father.
What are her positions on education, health care, the mortgage meltdown, rising unemployment, our crumbling infrastructure, the growing contempt toward the U.S. throughout the world, and the huge national debt that the Bush policies have left for our grandchildren to pay off?
With a President McCain taking office at 72, it is more than likely that Sarah Palin could become POTUS. And that thought makes me pull out my checkbook and make my first donation to the Obama-Biden campaign. And it won't be the last.
