Thank you Jerry for all the enjoyment in my youth of your films and all the work done by you for MDA. I will not be watching any more telethons.
That should have been 24 and not 29. Thats over 60 years Jerry has been involved with the MDA.
Thanks John. I am also of the same mind about the MDA. As you wrote last year, the MDA not only wanted Jerry out, but wanted to change the name to "the MDA Telethon" without a mention of his name.
Also, It maight have been the 45th national telethon, but Jerry was doing work for the MDA during his radio show period with Dean. I have an episode from 1950 where Jerry tells Dean he has to leave a bit early because of needing to be at the MDA. Jerry was 29 in 1950.
Thanks for the memories, John. I grew up just north of Flathead Lake. My dad, mom and I would pick cherries on the east shore of the lake every summer to make cherry wine, about 50 gallons, that dad would give away as Christmas presents. We would have our own stash, of course.
Brian;
Great sum up to what just happened.
Brian,
Thanks for some good history and wonderful pics of the hotel and stars who walked the hallways. I am looking forward to a good read on Monday.
So sad that this happened to a former giant in the 60's and 70's. Parts of "The Night Stalker" exteriors were filmed on the property with the billboard reading Johnny Carson shows that week.
"Oh Johnny Boy, we hardly knew ye."
What a family values kind of guy you turned out to be.
About time. My family started recycling in the Seattle area in 1976. It is mandatory in Seattle and has been for 20 years. They switched to one container for all items about 5 years ago.
We moved here in 2001 and have used WM service. Now we are living in an apartment and take our goods to UNLV recycling center.
