Not only is her "apology" completely insincere, all of the emails are extremely poorly written. One would expect better composed prose from the wife of a university president. In light of the recently proposed "speech code" at UNLV, perhaps her "serfs" should file a report with the UNLV police. Additionally, what does it say about the president of a university who travels out of the country at the time commencement ceremonies are scheduled?
I send an email to President Ashley a few weeks ago concerning the proposed "speech code". His response was that he would forward my concerns to a committee. He did not at any time address my concerns himself. In my email, I clearly identified myself as an alumnus of the university. As such, I felt he was doing a disservice not only to myself, but all past and present members of the UNLV community. This is further evidence of the need for a change in administration. I did not always agree with former UNLV President Robert Maxson, but he was far superior to Ashley.

Sambagirl, perhaps you should actually read the Constitution. First, the 2nd Amendment DOES guarantee the individuals right to keep and bear arms (the Supreme Court ruled on this last year). Second, any attempts to create a congressional seat for D.C. is unconstitutional. This is just as plainly stated.
Finally, if someone is going to use a gun to commit a crime, the intended victim should be a position to defends his/herself. Tell you what, go back to NYC and your little left-winger friends. Your arguments speak to incredible ignorance.
Imagine if access to some community resource were denied to people over 55! Oh, the howls of prejudice and injustice!
This is nothing but pure elitism. Matt Cook says he doesn't want "outsiders" in his community? Where is he from? Henderson? I doubt it. Therefore, a lot of people may consider him to be an outsider in the Las Vegas Valley at large. And Fetherolf looks like a baby-boomer to me, which would make him the right age to have been an original hippie. People like the aforementioned need to stop thinking that they have more rights conferred on them just because of their age. This is yet another reason I am glad I left the sad, sorry world of Southern Nevada behind me.

Oh, please. Nevada has thrown good money after bad at education in this state. The problem is a very poor curriculum and a philosophy that cares more about "self-esteem" than it does about teaching the fundamentals. On top of that, the real money problem comes from a bloated administrative staff. Of course, it is liberals (like those on the editorial staff of this paper) that burden the students with a dysfunctional curriculum (in the name of being "progressive") then blame inadequate funding when that curriculum fails to produce successful students. The typical democrat circle-jerk.
