Irony aside, and being no special admirer of Oscar Goodman, I strongly support his advocacy for the public, who are the main victims of graffiti and copper theft. One idiot did tens of thousands of dollars in damages to an optical fiber communication cable on an interstate bridge, containing no metal, in search of copper. New construction and vacant homes are frequently trashed for their copper. Graffiti artists brazenly cause thousands of dollars in damage and adversely affect the image of cities like Las Vegas, which spends a fortune trying to create a positive image for tourists.
And, I will confess, I get tired of picking up trash and calling the city's Rapid Response hotline to request newly painted graffiti removed from our block wall. Oscar is right to go after these hellions. We can either surrender to anarchy or throw some of these misfits in the clink, to make examples of them.

Given the current oil and energy crisis, not to mention opposition to Yucca Mountain, efforts to discourage a coal fired power plant seem unwise. Add to that, the drought caused reduction in water behind Hoover Dam, we have the makings for a serious power shortage.
It is time for Nimby's and Tree Huggers to look at the big picture.
