Develop the alternative energy resources first, and only then consider not drilling. Why continue to spend 700 Billion dollars every year for foreign oil? Spend that money here, and keep that money here! Enough of the partisan politics already!

I think I missed an article. For the Navajo, there was an engine failure with a fire after takeoff, he was trying to turn around but landed between two houses. Pretty good trick for a 40 foot wingspan airplane. Be tough enough for a little Cessna single engine to do. That's all I know? The guy was a good pilot to pull that off. Any Liberal who claims the "News" media isn't showing favoritism to Obama must be wearing horse blinders. CNN should be registered as a PAC for Obama, considering the way in which they slant information to vilify Palin. Considering Obama’s background of associating with a known avowed Communist during his growing up years, and having a friendship with an avowed American terrorist group member (Weather Underground), he wouldn’t even be able to get the lowest of security clearances in the military, IF they actually allowed him into the military! If Sarah Palin had that same background, it would be front page scandal news! I’m sure that the “News” media knows that the majority of general public realizes their bias for “Liberals,” but there are enough people who are too stupid and will believe anything that they read, and will vote accordingly. Perhaps voters should be required to take an intelligence test to qualify as a voter! That would thin out the ranks! As it is now, many people will vote for Obama because he makes them “feel good” That’s a reason to vote for him?

Palin is everything Obama isn’t. Obama is for more government control, anti-gun ownership (tell that to the criminals), wants to impose a windfall profits tax on oil companies (big mistake), wants to increase Social Security taxes, wants to increase gas taxes, wants to increase Capital gains taxes, tells the National council of LaRaza that American children should learn Spanish in order to communicate with illegals from Mexico!, is for open borders and legalizing all the illegals here now, and like past President Clinton…has received an estimated $33,000 in illegal campaign contributions from Palestinians via his web site. Imagine the uproar if all of this applied to Palin? The manner is which much of the “News” about Palin is reported amounts to propaganda used against her. The intentional avoidance of the "News" media to focus on the background of Obama mentioned above amounts to propaganda by ommission of reporting it.

Depending on the type of turbo-charger, or super-charger, a failure can result in either a restricted or a blocked intake. Either way, you're going to go down.

Prior to takeoff, the pilot had radioed the tower a request to remain in the traffic pattern, probably to remain close to the airport while he gained altitude. Such a request isn't out of the ordinary. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way. Most unfortunate are the lack of open areas on the departure end of the runway. Homes don't belong in an area where crashes can occur.

I notice that Michelle Obama has been put on the sidelines unless absolutely necessary to speak. Her problem is that she always seems to carry a chip on her shoulder. It's palpable.

Wow! Judging from all of the highly negative spun Left-Wing comments here, I can safely assume that the Democrats are running scared! Interesting. Personally, I wouldn't vote for someone who couldn't pass a military security clearance yet wants to be in charge of the miliatry. Secondly, I wouldn't vote for someone with Marxist/Socialist leanings and who believes in the Nanny State type of government. Third, Obama is just your typical attorney politician who speaks out of both sides of his face telling you what you want to hear. Anybody voting for him is a dupe.

Two reasons for what happened: One: too many people assume that someone else will get involved, so that's an excuse for them not to. Two: The general public has been brainwashed into doing nothing, and to simply wait for the police to take care of the situation. That is exactly what the criminal element assumes that you'll do. I'm a retired Deputy Sheriff. I disagree with the premise of just sitting back and waiting for the police. Yes, some will say that you can get hurt if you get involved. Very true, but what is living in a civil society worth when criminals take your inaction for granted? It only encourages more criminal activity! Perhaps the Sheriff should pass out more CCW permits and have armed trained citizens be able to stop such crime. Actually, my thoughts go much more basic than that...to the point of illegality. If it were legal, just shoot those criminals, throw them out of the bus, and drive on as though nothing had happened. Of course it's just a fantasy, but I can guarantee you that the crime rate would drop!

Just my personal opinion…..Build another reliever airport away from town, and build that new airport first before closing North Las Vegas Airport. Only, this time not allow spreading new housing to be built on the approach and departure end of the major runway! Leave a slot of open area in the form of parks or natural area. Of course I won't hold my breath. Once the land developers get done pressuring the politicians, all bets are off and the problem will repeat itself. Just look at what's happening out at Henderson Airport now? People move to where the airport is, and then complain about the airport operations! Are people that stupid? Apparently so.

Such a safety slot area can be as narrow as 100 feet wide and one mile long. That would allow the aircraft to either gain enough altitude for a safe turn-around if needed, or an area to do a forced landing and not strike homes. The land developers will scream that somehow it would make development of homes unprofitable. We know that's a lie, but they'll say it anyway, just watch. Greed always seems to take precedence over the morality of safety issues. Just look at all of that housing surrounding North Las Vegas Airport now? That wasn't planning, that was stupidity!
