tbvegas,
None of those firefighters work for the state. They work for cities and counties. There is a big difference between cities and counties and the state government. And Douglas, the only contract for the state is the teachers. State police are under no contract nor do they have any rights and like I stated above, those firefighters work for cities and counties, not the state.
eagldrivr,
You have no clue what you are talking about! There is not one officer who drives a crown victoria. The vehicles which you are referring to are chevy impalas and they are 6 cylinders. About 10 percent of the vehicles are impala's, the rest are chevy malibu's, chevy cobalts, dodge stratus', and ford taraus'. Not exactly your "high performance" vehicles. Next, if you are caught using the vehicle for personal use you can be disciplined and fired. It sounds like you know a little about what parole and probation does, so you know that they are conducting home contacts on felons and taking them to jail in these cars. Last time I checked, most people wouldn't want to take a 6'4" 250 pound felon to jail in a prius. And while you are bashing on parole and probation, check the overtime budget. Yep, zero dollars and zero cents. Try saying that about any other government agency on the planet. Get a damn clue before you talk about something you don't know about.
It's alright, if Jimmy gets his way and they cut state workers pay and benefits, then Bobbie will also get his smaller government. I know I won't be sticking around waiting for the better when states who manage themselves as they should don't suffer nearly as bad. Even if I have to go to one of those LOW paying states that the Bobster refers too. I'm not sure Jimbo could find enough of his lackey buddies to fill all of the spots that would be left open. Why would they want low paying, bad benefit jobs whose pay and benefits have been raped by Jimmie anyway? Loyalty means jack squat to these idiots and it should mean nothing to us after they keep spitting in our faces.
I must say that I am very upset to see this the day following an article about city of Las Vegas employees taking a 1 percent cost of living decrease. Really? I am a state employee and more than willing to do my share to help with the situation that everyone is in. If that means no cost of living, then that is ok. If that means no step raise, I understand. But to take a pay cut while the city is merely cutting 1 percent off their cola is completely unjustified. I have not heard of the counties making any cuts yet either. So state employees can take the full hit while the people making 30 percent more than we do still get increases plus cola. For those that are unaware, state employees cannot have a contract like cities and counties, so Mr. Gibbons can pretty much do whatever he likes to us. I guess that is just easier than fighting the unions. My agency is teetering on the edge of disaster and more will be cut, there is not a doubt in my mind. This is not only salaries but complete agencies which are vital to Nevada's well being. Staffing is way below what it should be and the answer cannot be to cut more. There will be serious problems if that happens. Not just with my agency, but with the public. I am uninformed on who gets what from the budget, but if the cities and counties are getting any money from the state, then their take needs to be severely examined before any money is granted to them.

Wow, remind me to never bet on what this guy writes. Top 20 for Utah huh? Last time I checked a field goal kicker is part of the team and most need a decent one to win games. Does this guy even have a clue? Last time I checked Oregon State beat USC and Utah beat Oregon State. Oh, but the team is better right? That's sure not what the score said which is the only thing that matters.
