Another good idea that has gone way too far!
Why not send one fire department unit, without lights & sirens blaring, to check the alarm out. If the homeowner is away, and can't call the FD, any fire will be much worse by the time the FD gets the call (if they do).
I don't see the rescue issue as a problem, an automatic alarm will alert any occupants. But, again; if the home is empty, it will burn to the ground before the FD gets notified.
What is the FD doing that is so important not to be bothered by sending a single unit to check the alarms out? Reduced response is a great idea, this policy has gone too far.
