Tony,
Not sure why you didn't respond to my e-mail to you from the other day, but perhaps I can get my point across with a comment here.
Your article in the May 11, 2008 issue of The Las Vegas Sun, "New-route noise lights up airport hotline," was all wrong. First of all the right hand turn (to the North) is not new. Prior to 2003 most, if not all, the planes made a right turn (heading North) after departing to the West from McCarran International. The left turn after departure is the NEW turn, which started in 2003. Secondly, you mention my neighbor Joe Capozzi, who I assure you is not complaining about the reinstated right turn but complaining most vehemently about the NEW left turn. He does not live in Summerlin or The Lakes. He lives near the intersection of Robindale and Rainbow, as I do. That's South of 215. So let's see if I have you all straightened out.
A) The Right Turn is the Reinstated Right Turn.
B) The Left Turn is the New Left Turn.
C) The calls lighting up the hotline are the calls coming from the area South of 215 and West of Jones.
D) Joe Capozzi lives in that area and not Summerlin or The Lakes.

I'm sure Mr. Eastman is in the same boat we are. Unfortunately you're article led him, as many other readers, to believe that the vast amount of calls to the airport noise hotline were about the Reinstated Right Turn, when in fact, those calls are about the New Left Turn. And Mr. Capozzi is making calls about the Left Turn, not the Right Turn, as the article leads you to believe. Tony, you really need to write another article to clear up this issue. Thanks
