1 dollar for 1 night is not a great incentive. the rooms must be remodelled and the coffee shop must also get an up-lift. in the recent months food quality and service lacked big time so people just would not return.
I believe that the casino and the hotel has a chance of survival. The hotel and casino should be closed temporarily and remodelled. A new investor with nostalgic touch should get the old days liven up and I am sure people will return, even if they have to pay 35 dollars per night.

The Cannery and the East Side Cannery both have coin-in and coin-out Full Pay Jacks-or-Better Videopoker, 99.54 per cent payback!!! These machines are fun and very noisy as most of the time almost all machines are occupied.

I don't think you can find such nostalgic promo machines anywhere on the Strip. Not even in Downtown. The Cannery people have brought back some of the good things that Vegas was known for. Even if there may be less than 20 of these machines in the casino, it's a little something.

Would be great to see the Plaza, Golden Nugget and all the other still remaining downtown casinos make similar efforts to keep the action going.
You can have the money, or the hammer, but you can't have both.

Another one is waving the carrot. Icaahan will have to pull out a bigger carrot to impress the bankruptcy judge. would be interesting to find out how serious the bid is. 350 million for a halfway finished project sounds like somebody has quite an idea what to make with this building. perhaps they found a way to skip the completion costs to a degree that there is a substantial chance to make the building a profitable thing......?

Cincitygal, I usually come to Vegas with my budget that is supposed to be enough for 3-4 weeks of daily gambling. I don't plan to win anything, so I usually lose. But I am not firing up my money like a super dude. I play carefully and try to take advantage of promotions, match plays, good dining deals, etc. I am not a friend of these clubs and other places that just take my money at high speed. I also don't do much shopping except in the outlet malls where I can get blue jeans at prices never seen in Europe.

Despite the fact that Vegas is suffering, it's probably one of the best cities in the world. 24/7, and all kinds of opportunities. I tip my hat of all people who live there and are strong enough to resist all the temptations. It must take a hell of a character to gamble a little and have a real live besides outside of the gambling world. It's simple to gamble little when you have little money, I am therefore referring to the people who have money and still only play a little. That's when Vegas is the greatest city in the world. It can give you so much for so little. Thus, all it takes is to resist and take advantage. I wished I could live there. Maybe in my next life :)
